I like the dream episodes/scenes but I like dream sequences in general (if they’re done well). I’m a sucker for anything surreal that builds on a character’s psychology/world lore. I don’t mind a deviation from the plot if it’s going to deepen a character for me.
It doesn’t help that I’m seeing it for the first time in 2022, either. The whole shtick has been beat to death by this point.
i mean i only first watched the show in december 2021 and still love it lol, but i do get why its not an episode for everyone
The Sopranos really understands dream logic and the way our dreams can be both straightforward and literal while also seemingly random and pointless.
There are no skips on Sopranos rewatches for me. All hits. I get something new out of every single episode every time
S6E3: Mayhem … the guys sit around talking about slasher movie tropes and mention Michael, Jason, and Freddy by name… fan fuckin tastic!
Just finished the series…wow. I’m still sitting here thinking about the finale. Absolutely love how anxiety-inducing the last few minutes were… it literally made me want to look over my shoulder.
We had these illegal satellite boxes that would regularly get shut down and need to be reprogrammed and we really thought the feed had just been cut off.
New Jersey and Long Island really are the same because no one who isn't from your neck of the woods would know what that means haha
Just started this, on episode 3. I'm already into it but my wife is having a hard time following along (mob stuff is not at all her cup of tea). I will now post in this thread after every episode to share my thoughts. Or maybe not because of random spoilers (I haven't had anything spoiled yet)
Ok so I've watched 4 eps so far, and yeah I'm definitely hooked. I love the dynamic between Tony and his doctor and I hope that is a constant throughout the series, but he says he's done with therapy basically every episode so I doubt it will be. He's already having her followed so I can see that unraveling pretty soon. Speaking of which, weird to see the dad from Home Alone here as the detective lol, dude is scum in this The episode ended with Tony's son finding out about what his dad actually does and that scene at Jackie's funeral is pretty iconic. Wonder what's gonna happen with Tony and his uncle, because that's not something that can thrive for too long. Random things: you can't play Mario Kart with one hand, Tony. So unrealistic, pulled me right out /s. Also his son had an Ulver poster in his room, which was way out of left field lol
