My fav Barb moment is when her family comes over to Juniors for family dinner, and the whole “makings of a varsity athlete” thing came up lol “Get your coat!” “...I don’t have one.”
Ha, I’m also halfway through a Deadwood rewatch to get to the movie, and am planning to rewatch Sopranos and the Wire after that.
This is my 3rd time through now and I'm doing it with that autopsy website and enjoying it more than I ever have before. I've been going home and watching 5-6 hours a day since hockey season ended. Just watched "Pie-O-My".
Yeah same with deadwood, someone quote this post and tell me how good it is to inspire me to watch it
It’s part of the holy HBO trinity for a reason. It’s very similar to Sopranos in that the characters are so beautifully fleshed out and the writing is incredible. It’s also unexpectedly hilarious.
The reason it’s one of my top 5 shows of all time is the dialogue, which is a mix of high and low language that sounds like joyful gutter poetry. The writer literally naturally writes in iambic pentameter, which isn’t obvious from the way they speak but you can feel the rhythm when it really revs up. Some of the most ambitious TV sets of all time, with a solid half dozen characters that could be on an all timers list. But similar to The Wire in that it’s best to take a chunk of three episodes in one go to start so you can get a feel.
In The Loop is absolutely great. He also did a sweet movie with Julia Louis Dreyfus that I liked a lot.
Wow, great article. Wish it was longer though. The scenes Michael references in the interview are beautiful moments in the show and the way he describes watching them choked me up.
Staying at my brother in laws this weekend - JUST noticed that he was very subtley hanging this piece of art
Anyone have this? I randomly spotted it on my mom's bookshelf when I visited home (she did not watch the show but will buy any cookbook)
