I know this is a joke but in an interview, John Heard said when he got cast in Home Alone, all that was told to him about his character was that he’s a gynecologist, but it’s never mentioned in the movie.
Fuck— my girlfriend is too good at predicting things and knew Janice kills Richie minutes before it happens. But will she be able to predict who sleeps with the fishes next episode?

HBO2 has been marathoning this the last few days so I caught a few episodes. This remains one of the best shots of the series
David Chase on ‘The Sopranos,’ Trump and, Yes, That Ending — The New York Times Great interview with chase I didnt know he and gandolfini were at odds towards the end of the show
for a show with such pop culture impact/significance/influence, it seems crazy to think that it only ran for 8 years. GoT is running longer than the sopranos did. for reference, Silicon valley by the time it comes back will likely in its 6th year with at least 2-3 to go.
Having rewatched the Wire again this year and in the midst of running through the Sopranos (very slowly), I’m pretty confident in saying that the Sopranos is the greatest show of all time
Of all time? Id have to think about that a bit... I dont know anything offhand that could match it? How do you rate something like that? Could MASH be something to compare, or Carol Burnett Show? Or perhaps something else (perhaps even something like Tom and Jerry). But the best on HBO? Man, its tough to compare it to anything.... it just came out, and hit you like a ton of bricks.
i'm not trying to sit down and compare/contrast it against other shows of different genres or types, and can't disrespect MASH by saying it's not among the all time television shows, but in my life i have never watched a show that stuck with me and brought me back as much as the sopranos has. not even LOST got me like the sopranos has, and i don't think once it's all over and done with that GoT will have as lasting an impact on me.
So its the type of thing, that if its on TV, or you know its on TV, you almost cater your schedule araound it? (I could see doing it). I know HBO is running it (2 stations, a few episodes off from each other), so I've been watching it from 7:30-10 EST at night. Im not checking out other channels. Im just fixated on these. Now, if HBO was running Good Fellas, Godfather (1 or 2), or Casino opposite it.... Id be a little upset. Id still be watching Sopranos though. For the Gen X or Gen Y crowd.... this series is 'the one', or it really 'should' be.
It's an all time favorite for me. Slightly beating out Mad Men and I think the sole reason is the nostalgia I have for the show, it's literally shot where I grew up. My town and all the surrounding ones. I live in Florida now and it just makes me feel like i'm at home again every time I watch it.
I'm not someone that talks about the 'writing' or 'characters' on any show, really, but during parties, or get togethers, theres usually a reference to Sopranos (or Good Fellas, etc...), but mostly Sopranos. The writing <was> terrific, and to me, the characters were just perfect together.... You walk away hating Richie... hating Tonys sister.... etc.
most hate-able is tough because, while you're supposed to hate ralph and richie and even maybe janice, they're GREAT characters who's purpose is undeniable. my most hated characters are probably the two goons in season 2 who shot chris.
While it is in my top 3 of all time, I have trouble ever labeling anything tv/cinema-wise as the goat. However, one of my closest friends would 100% agree with you and i've heard him debate many over it haha.
