I saw a post on the Radiohead subreddit wishing for their next album to be deceptively simple and straightforward which I think would be great and I agree with the OP saying it would be a good challenge for them. I'll be happy to get anything from them though!
This album seems to be overall more of my thing. The highlights on the last one are very high, but some of it could drag just a bit.
Agree. Top 10 album of all time for me. A 2023 gift to myself was learning about the b-side album of it that’s been around for a few years. Haha.
I typically lean toward this mindset and get pretty bummed with the more downtempo stuff, but.... I am halfway through this album and personally I am finding it be really GOOD dewntempo stuff. Feels creative and intricate for a downtempo record, I dunno maybe I'm wrong, but I think this might be a surprise to others as it is to me
Teleharmonic actually reminds me of nearer my god lol, this is the only place I can say that and people know what I mean
Album rocks. Could have gone for one more upbeat number to shake it up a bit but there's so much to like here
Agreed. Far exceeded my expectations. I'm pretty partial to the likes of Massive Attack and Portishead so hearing I Quit was finally the song I've been wishing for out of Thom. BNM deserved!
this is decent. not as fun as the first record and i really don’t love the first two tracks but it sinks into a nice groove from there on out. the tones of the guitars feel like stuff jonny’s never really done. friend of a friend is spectacular.
Friend Of A Friend was my least favourite on first listen, haha. I do agree that I miss the fun (and maybe a fast paced banger/new wave tune like We Don’t Know What Tomorrow Brings) here, but the album is otherwise really beautiful and dreamy. Looking forward to listening more. Teleharmonic
It’s obviously good but I really miss the energy of the debut. Hopefully I’ll fall in love once I’m able to give this some good headphone listens.
This thing really breezes by. Vibe music for sure, but in a good way. "You Know Me!" is beautiful. Could see this having more replay value for me than the debut.
"Read the Room" sounds like what people who don't listen to Radiohead think Radiohead sounds like lol. Evil carnival vibes. Good shit.
This is hitting today. The ending of Bending Hectic is placed perfectly within the flow of the rest of the LP.
