Yeah it’s weird, I think some younger bands have been citing them as an influence so that’s why they’re getting talked about more all of a sudden.
but...there's still usually some sort of lineage of knowledge right? people older who might've known and talked about them more and more people would've found the retroactively? it's just so incredibly from nowhere
what do you think? feel like I've kept seeing their name pop up and I'm interested in checking them out @cwhit
I listened to Duster after Mark Richardson mentioned them on Twitter a while back, and I’ve been low-key obsessed with Stratosphere ever since. Haven’t even moved on from it yet, it’s so good
I probably should have just posted about it in here but a new Low album is on the way so I made an album thread: Low - Double Negative (September 14, 2018)
haha, I think I'm the only one who would revive this thread tbh. its just I started student teaching and I dont want my students to find my posts hes seriously one of the most consistent musicians, everything he does is beautiful
haha valid reasoning there. yeah, I went and looked at the OP and saw Carissa's Wierd and I don't know anyone else on here who also listens to them. that was the giveaway. I've never listened to him so I have a lot of stuff to dive into.
haha, theres worse things to be known as than "the Carissas wierd guy." his discog is huge, but its all worth listening to. I think I remember everything is generally considered his opus/best starting point
this isn't overwhelming or anything haha. starting with the newest and working my way back, love the cover for I Remember Everything already.
threw on The Curtain Hits the Cast from Low this morning and it's hitting all of the right spots for me right now. perfectly sparse.
I guess it only tangentially hits this thread but I’ve been listening to double negative a lot lately and it’s really good. I never expected them to go in this direction
