I think Halcyon and OCD are my favorite tracks. All the other singles are good too, just played them out too much before album dropped. All in all this is a solid ass album
Oof, was excited for this but the master is really muffled. I like some of the songs here but I'm going to have to come back with lower expectations
1) I’m loving this record more with each listen 2) it’s the recording of the drums for me that really hurts the overall production - bummer
On repeat listens it is growing on me, but I would unabashedly love it if it sounded better. Agreed on the drums being very strange sounding.
A very ignorant question from someone not at all close to music production, mixing, etc... Was the sound on this album intentional? Is it a money thing? How does this happen? I just can't fathom them thinking this sounds better than the big deep..
If you were to ask me - I would say that it’s a healthy mix between money and Doug wanting a specific sound that’s less polished/more raw. Totally guessing here but that makes the most sense to me.
I can tell why the drum tones can be off putting but they fit the 00s dance-punk/post punk revival vibes a good chunk of the record has going on imo
I had vocalist Douglas Robinson on my podcast recently and the episode went live today. We discuss how the reunion happened, making the album, the artwork, some other projects he's been working on, and his love for vinyl too. EP #71 - Douglas Robinson (The Sleeping / ex-Night Verses)
