This might be my favorite stuff they've ever put out already? It's just so weird and different for them and from what you generally hear out there right now. It's so cool. I really love Tainted. I didn't realize how much parts of The Animal reminded me of Wiretap Scars from Sparta. This is the only one I haven't heard because I don't have Apple Music! Very bummed but still very excited! I love how the band is so responsive on YouTube to fans
No Shadows in the Sun, Paranormal Hologram, and the title track are immediate stand outs to me (along with Halcyon and No Light) but.. this is not the record some fans are going to want.
Yup woke up to the email. Sadly I'm not a band camp guy so going to wait until either my vinyl arrives or it's on spotify. My stereo set up has a digital upstream for Tidal and spotify, but not bandcamp
Relistened to their discography in the lead up to this and I forgot how much variety there is across the albums. The comment above regarding this one not necessarily being what fans want is interesting because to me there isn't a The Sleeping sound. Even The Big Deep and What It Takes, which were released in quick succession, are quite different from each others stylistically. Really curious about the reception this is going to get then.
Yeah it’s officially out on the 18th. If you’re a backer - you got a private link last night to listen.
You’re not wrong about this band being stylistically varied. I do love The Big Deep and What It Takes so I don’t mind this record being a little experimental. With that said; I do think that a decent amount of their fans want Questions & Answers II since that’s for sure their most popular material. The band got the biggest exposure from Don’t Hold Back being in Guitar Hero and with Cameron being back - I’m sure some folks expect a return to that sound in some capacity. I mean I even did when I first saw it was going to be the original lineup. This record definitely ain’t that though but I do enjoy most of it!
yeah i remember don't hold back and this one being all over those free promo victory samplers, they really pushed that album. solid nonetheless!
My vinyl copy arrived yesterday! Going to spin it tomorrow. I have tickets to see their NYC show in a couple weeks. Havent seen this band since 2010. Had tickets to their reunion show, but covid cancelled it twice.
Yeah, if someone expects this record to be a continuation of 'The Big Deep', they will surely be disappointed. It is not a bad record per se but it's nowhere near to the 'The Big Deep' or 'What It Takes'. Maybe it will grow on me. We'll see.
After spinning my copy on vinyl, this record has grown on me BIG TIME. It’s not my favorite but I’m becoming a big fan of this.
I would probably (at this point atleast) rank it as their worst, but still better than 99% of the new shit that comes out these days.
Hate to do this, but my mother had surgery this week and I need to be the responsible one to go and take care of her. Anyone interested in two tickets for the Sleeping's show at Bowery Ballroom tomorrow 8/17 for $40 total? I paid $68. Can ticketmaster transfer.
This record has grown on me so much that it’s now becoming one of my favorite records of theirs. Definitely a record that might not connect as much on first listen but might after a few more I would say!
Been obsessed with this since Friday. Love the emphasis on post-punk/dance-punk influences mixed with their post-hardcore roots. I don't mind the production but I can see where you guys are coming from.
