Dang, yeah sounds almost exactly the same. Also weird, I saw he’s opening up a bunch of shows for them on their upcoming tour in June.
The new Brown Horse album is out this week. Brown Horse - Total Dive (April 10, 2026) • forum.chorus.fm
Good Looks - Bummer Year RIYL: A more indie rock version of Fust or a more country rock version of Trace Mountains or American Aquarium Definitely belongs in here. Just revisited this record today for first time in a while. Good Looks - Bummer Year (April 8, 2022) • forum.chorus.fm
Dick Stusso - In Heaven RIYL: low-fi groovy lounge rock songs sung by a recovering deadbeat who knows how to write killer guitar solos
Golomb just put out a little mini album of remixes, alternate takes, and unreleased gems to follow up their debut from last year. Highly recommend checking that one out if you missed it last year, it was way too overlooked. Golomb - The Beat Goes On (2025) • forum.chorus.fm
Really good record from another Asheville band. Kinda takes the MJ/Wednesday sound but injects a lot of emo influence into it.
Bubble of this genre has definitely popped but every now and then there's a band that does something different enough to catch my ear. That i26 record is cool. Fazed on a Pony too.
Just checked out Hiding Places bc they are opening for Sluice on their upcoming tour. Looks like their album came out a few weeks back. Sounded really solid on first listen. I’d say RIYL Ratboys, Wednesday, Big Thief Hiding Places - The Secret to Good Living (April 3, 2026) • forum.chorus.fm
This album from Chicago’s National Photo Committee that dropped last week is great. National Photo Committee - Red Hot Photo Committee (April 14, 2026) • forum.chorus.fm
Been enjoying this Sean Solomon album that came out last week. Saw somebody say it sounded like The Weakerthans mixed with Nana Grizol. I hear a lot of Elliot Smith. Also, I already posted about it in here, but I want to bump this Mildred album again now that it is out. Easily one of my favorites this year. Mildred - Fenceline (April 24, 2026) • forum.chorus.fm
Gaadge - Somewhere Down Below RIYL: 90’s influenced alt-rock from Pittsburgh “No Go” is in my head constantly
Villagerrr - Carousel This band has been on my radar for a bit as the Spotify algo pushed a couple excellent songs from their last album really hard. Follow up just came out Friday and I think people here will enjoy it a lot. Similar vein as recent stuff like Friko and Wishy with some real nice steel and Americana vibes that lead me to think this is the most appropriate thread. Really comes into its own somewhere around track 4 if you’re skipping around.
Debut album from Chicago’s Sports Boyfriend dropped today. It’s really good, think a lot of y’all will like it! Also, I will never complain about a Tuesday album release! Sports Boyfriend - Slice of Life (June 9, 2026) • forum.chorus.fm
