Some good singer/songwriter stuff that’s been released lately. I haven’t seen much mention of around here, so I thought I’d throw them out there. A. Savage of Parquet Courts Shannon Lay Peter Oren Anna St. Louis Jaye Bartell The Weather Station https://youtu.be/liDW1ZIrP6g Simon Joyner https://youtu.be/E2hFuA-O8Pc
New Liza Anne is out today. Fans of Phoebe Bridgers, Soccer Mommy, Julien Baker, etc would probably like her
Been listening to quite a bit of Dermot lately. Really excited to see him live at Mopop fest in a couple months with Bon Iver
If y'all ain't already familiar with Donovan Woods, make sure to rectify that before he drops his new album next month. It's a gem.
A couple albums coming up I’m looking forward to that I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere on this site so I figured I’d give them a mention. Damien Jurado Cut Worms Josh T. Pearson Ryan Downey Jennifer Castle
This is the first thing I ever heard from her. 10 years ago..... Wild. She's an incredible writer. This one is probably easier to get into
Anyone know what happened to Night Beds? I'm revisiting Country Sleep for the first time in years and damn, does it hold up. Great record. It seems like he dropped off the face of the Earth after Ivywild, aside from a guest spot on one song last year. It's a shame that one (admittedly very) bad album can derail such a promising career.
I loved that first Night Beds album back in the day. I soured on him with Ivywild. Not only was the album terrible, but he was kind of an asshole about the bad reviews it got. Not sure I've listened to Country Sleep since.
It's honestly one of my favorite albums ever. Definitely a shame we probably won't get something like it from him ever again.
This album has turned into an obsession. I moved into a new apartment recently and my tiny town is beautiful. It's basically surrounded by the Detroit River and there are canals that weave throughout the city. You can walk the whole city in an hour or two and I've been taking walks every day listening to this on repeat. "Our Friend Bobby" man....
It's one of my favorite records of the year. He's always done that quiet, unassuming beauty thing well, but this album is just on another level.
