10. Lisa's Substitute 9. Bart Vs. Australia 8. Lemon of Troy 7. Homer Goes to College 6. Homer's Enemy 5. Homer at the Bat 4. Marge vs. the Monorail 3. You Only Move Twice 2. Cape Feare 1. Last Exit to Springfield I tried to make an objective top ten but now I'm mad at only me The beer baron episode is definitely up there if I ever make a personal list, such an absurd plot executed with perfection
10. Bart of Darkness 9. 22 Short Films About Springfield 8. Treehouse of Horror V 7. Marge vs. the Monorail 6. Homer's Phobia 5. Homer At Bat 4. I Love Lisa 3. Homerpalooza 2. Homer's Enemy 1. Homer Bad Man
Treehouse V of fucking course, and probably 22 short films. Ok redo: 10. Lisa's Substitute 9. Homer Goes to College 8. Lemon of Troy 7. Homer's Enemy 6. Homer at the Bat 5. Treehouse of Horror V 4. Marge vs. the Monorail 3. You Only Move Twice 2. Cape Feare 1. Last Exit to Springfield Ok no 22 Shorts but the Skinner bit is probably peak comedy of the series. I could replace Homer Goes to College with like ten other episode on like the same tier, this is impossible and I'm upset I even tried.
"AURORA BOREALIS? AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR? AT THIS TIME OF DAY? IN THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY? LOCALIZED ENTIRELY WITHIN YOUR KITCHEN?" Fucking hell what a scene. Also, me and my friend used to fucking crease up at the scene with the cops talking about McDonald's too: "do they have Krusty's "Partially Gelatinated, Non-Dairy, Gum-Based Beverages"? Yeah, they call them "shakes."
The beer barron episode is one of my favorites. Rex Banner: "I know you're out there beer barron, and I will catch you". Homer/Beer Barron:"No you won't". RB: "What? Yes I will". BB: "Ohhhhh".
-It's a regional expression. -"Uh-huh, what region?" -ummm, upstate New York. -"Realllly? Well I'm from Utica and I've never heard anyone use the expression steamed hams." -Oh heavens no not in Utica, it's an Albany expression. -"I see" That scene is unreal
Best part I never noticed until recently was the moonwalking ape in back of the breakdancing ape haha
The music for that Dr Zaius song is so fucking good as well. Also: "Can I play the piano anymore?" "Of course you can" "Well I couldn't before!" Always slays me
For years I didn't know the number was a parody of Amadeus by Falco because I had never heard the song before. I think the first time I heard it was when it was sampled by The Bloodhound Gang
Haha I didn't hear the original song for the first time until I was in a Trader Joes a few years ago. It was like that scene in the Blues Brothers where the ray of light shines through the church window on Jake. Anyways: I'd have to say the entire Australia episode. Knifey-Spooney, "I'd have called them chazzwazzers!", Coffee/Beer, dollarydoos, New Ouagadougou (from Homer looking through the list of phone charges), "Hey, Mr. Prime Meenehsteahh!" are classics. Honorable mentions for "That's a paddlin'", "Wahhh?!?!" (like Moe in the Simpsons spinoff episode) and "Everything's coming up Milhouse!"
I'll go hard for the Armin Tamzarian episode it's a classic to me. Also, Skinner is a 'golden-era' top 5 character regardless of that episode.
