Really love this lyrically! Musically it's not hitting me right, but also it's pretty grey here today so I'll spin it again once the sun comes out
"kissing that crush but then what if it just falls flat like a hope to swing for fences but forgot the bat or you don't even play sports at that well an expectation is an extension of your id to want and just wonder if you did well I wanna sit on your roof again not talk about people or friends listen to ice cubes clicking and planes amazed how without touching we touch each other's brains it's insane"
I don't think any other person could have pulled off the lyrics on this album but Steve. In any other hands some of those one liners would probably sound a bit contrived and corny imo but with him they just sound so sincere and whimsical

I'm only 9 tracks into my first listen and I'm really pleased with this. Probably just gonna buy the digital.
Geeeez my second listen was even better What a record. Easily tops Runners imo. Not sure about AB or Weight of Air yet
runners is such a good record but also has lots of anxious vibes this one is so carefree & sincere and so I'll probably end up liking it more, we'll see
I discovered and fell in love with Runners earlier this year, Awkward Breeds hasn't entirely clicked with me yet. Haven't listened to anything else.
Awkward Breeds just recently clicked with me, and tbh it took a couple tries. But Runners was one of, if not my favorite album of 2015 and Happiness Hours only heped solidify my love for this band
Omg I played a show w the kid who books for the garage and he mentioned liking us i am getting in his ear and getting on that fucking bill! This album is fantastic, not gonna rank yet, but I hear smiths on win affection and the closer is straight up counting crows gold. Lyrics are top notch as always. 3 in a row (how’s weight of air again? I think I recently asked lol)
I’m glad the important genre of pool music is being recognised. Never Hungover Again and Precious Art have been my go-tos the last couple of years, pleased to add another album to the canon
I’ve now listened to this 5 times and truly love it. I’ve never been super into their stuff, but Twins Twist is one of my favorite songs of the year so I had high hopes for this and it does not disappoint.
First careful listen. I think it’s pretty good, I think some of the awkward lyrical phrasing is a bit distracting at times. The guitar work on the album is really good
