In Chicago it was pretty heavy on Happiness Hours, with a couple songs from each of the previous two albums, plus a new one (pretty sure it was one that was released today). No "Happiness Hours" or "1940s Fighter Jet" though, which were the only things I was bummed not to hear. They also had the lead guitarist sing "Jesus Christ Supermalls" and the bassist sang another song with Steve doing harmonies, which was really neat.
They’ve been closing with Ode To Jerry almost every time I’ve seen them for the past 2 years haha super stoked to finally hear it recorded
Not sure if anyone has seen them this summer but they have a fill in guitarist and she killed it yesterday! She took over full vocal duties on Jesus Christ Supermalls and it was very cool. It was really weird seeing them close with that into Ode To Jerry since Steve didn't sing lead on either
Also it’s Caeleigh from the Saintseneca lineup of the past couple years. She also went out with Foxing on their last tour. About as good a replacement for Toby as you could imagine
I'd probably bet they're just one-offs from the Happiness Is sessions that they've been using to promote tours, stay relevant, etc. Wouldn't expect new album talk until at least 2020
If happiness comes in hours Well it looks like it's that time again for me Gravestones deserve flowers Lovers deserve poetry That I crafted cleverly to be sung in the key of G To give a moment some clarity Well, a poet would say a moment's like . . . They'd say it's like a picture in a frame Or the clouds before the rain The rumbling of a train before the tracks abruptly end It's the car before it quits on the way to your first day of work Or the last day of school Still feeling the cool of the air Through your patented moonroof Hearing the blown subwoofer mumbling some sung truth It was your daily rock block of Jimmy Eat, Joni, and The Jam It's the calming 'California' chorus Just before the engine slam (Hey!) "California! (California!) I'm coming home!"
