Souvlaki didn't click with me the first couple times I listened either. I think it was the environment because I was working in an office at the time. Revisited it at night and had a way more positive experience.
As someone who is just getting into Souvlaki/Slowdive I really dig them. Alison, and Sing particularly.

I was talking to my girls about Shoegazers, and from my brain, I think of 90s bands Ride, Lush, and wouldnt think of Cocteau Twins/MBV as shoegazers. They asked what it meant, and I simply said - it was bands that got on stage, played their music, and just looked at their shoes, and not the audience. Very disinterested, so to speak. Just played. J&M Chain? I forget, when I saw them (Lollapalooza?) if I deemd them either. Interesting to see this thread though :)
^they looked at the shitload of pedals they had to work with to create shoegaze's characteristic sound so yeah, they were kind of disinterested too, but they also HAD to look at their shoes because there was so much going on down there
Decided I'm gonna really try to dive into dream pop, since I love Beach House and that DIIV album from last year but have listened to woefully little from the genre. I'll start gathering stuff to listen to by going through this thread but if anyone could rec me some essential stuff I'd really appreciate it.
Cocteau Twins' Treasure and Heaven or las Vegas are as good as it gets then you could do the first Mazzy Star record, I guess
I know this isn't the self-promotion thread, but I would love to meet some Chorus folks if anyone in the area could make it out to these shows!
