the first three were obvious choices (not criticizing) but I was pleasantly surprised with many of the choices for example - I had never heard that first Verve album and did so today... it is sick AF - jesu s/t at 20, fuck yes - Bardo Pond!! not my fav (close second tho, and still amazing) but loved to see it on the list - Dead Cities!! - Windy & Carl! - APtBS! - Asobi Seksu! - ASDiG's Ashes Grammar - Brian Jonestown!! - loveliescrushing!! - Alecest and Nothing hehe so in general, I like this list a lot Bufo Alvarius is probably my #1 shoegaze album of all time
There's a new Cloakroom song on the Relapse sampler and it's ridiculously good. Really hoping we get a new album in 2017.
I had no clue they signed to Relapse. January releases always get overlooked by me but Further Out was immense
Me neither, and they just did an interview with Clrvynt which doesn't even mention it. Seems a good fit for them, though. Cloakroom Unveil 'Natural Unnatural' Approach to Shoegaze
did you even notice who did that interview too? pretty wild he's doing interviews for them haha, he knows a ton of stuff too
Yeah I did a bit of a double-take at first because I recognised the name but couldn't place it, then I was like 'is this really the TDWP guy??' haha. Good on him, was a good piece. Clrvynt is shaping up to be a pretty good site so far.
Damn that song is really cool, doesn't sound like they recorded with Matt Talbot unless I glossed over something in the interview
every jesus and mary chain album past darklands is pretty bad so im pretty skeptical about how good they could sound in 2016
This Oyama album is two years old, but it's really really good. I like that unlike a lot of this style of music, the vocals are clear and towards the front of the mix. Really good songwriting. On Topshelf, if that convinces anyone
Slowdive is the one shogaze band that doesn't click with me - they just bore me Souvlaki Space Station is such a jam, tho
The Mites Ride a Wave of Noisy Nostalgia on 'Asphalt Ocean' Power Trip and ex-Iron Age, have two other EPs which are real cool as well
can't believe Slowdive came out with a new tune. totally took me by surprise on my spotify when i saw it. didnt even know that was in the works. but im glad as hell about it.
Their name is constantly thrown around in the same spheres as a few others I absolutely adore, like MBV and Swervedriver, but I have to agree. I couldn't even get into Souvlaki, ostensibly their masterpiece, though I admittedly didn't try too hard when it wasn't clicking. This new tune actually catches my interest some, though.
