The new Ghost Gum record that dropped last week is fantastic The Past, The Future, Dwelling there like space, by Ghost Gum
The more ambient/floaty the better. Take your pick from: Auburn Lull - Alone I Admire Slowdive - Just For a Day Cocteau Twins - Victorialand Malory - Outerbeats Flying Saucer Attack - Further Southpacific - Constance Hammock - Kenotic
Any love for Swervedriver here? They have some classics from the 90s... ...but IMHO, they might've released their best LP last year (I Wasn't Born To Lose You), 18 years after disbanding. Anyway, my shoegaze go-tos have always been them and MBV. I also love Mew to death, though I guess they'd fall more under dream pop. I've struggled to get into Slowdive the times I've tried, though. Will try to check out some of the other big names in this thread soon.
Where do I start if I wanna listen to Cocteau Twins? I don't know what they're like but with shoegaze/dream pop it's best for me to start out where it's more song like than free form texture kinda stuff if that helps anyone
Heaven or Las Vegas is the best entry point to the band and is one of their most accessible albums. After that the next choice would be Treasure, which is a bit darker.
Whoa, surprised to see Anakin here. I stumbled upon them randomly back when they started and it seems like their following is still really small. My favorite of theirs is the Emergency Broadcast System EP. Honestly, their stuff is pretty formulaic and predictable and they haven't shown much musical progression from album to album. But if you like what they do, they do it well, and there are always a few cool and unique songs per release.
I have no idea how well made that list is, but I'm definitely gonna use it to find more stuff to listen to. People elsewhere tend to laud the same few bands, so hoping it's a little more diverse and I can find something cool
