Ariel Pink is credited as playing on a few songs of the Charles record above... uh

 

I don't know anything about the band, but considering his shit blew up five months ago, and up to that point he was working with everyone from MGMT to Miley Cyrus, I wouldn't be surprised if those songs were written/worked on prior to the insurrection shit.

 

Samesies, I'm just finding out more about this project and seeing Ariel's name in the bandcamp page made me do a double take. But there's more to it as I found out Charles is the stage name for the person referred as Ariel's bandmate and ex-girlfriend in the paragraphs of the Relationship section here. Obviously, outside of the headlines they've made regarding each others I have no idea what their relation is and that's their own business but this whole thing makes me uncomfortable and doesn't make me want to give the album a listen now.

new Tennis System track with Chadwick from Hundredth. Honestly what I expected the new Hundredth album to sound like

 

The new direction for Deafheaven definitely fits here. Post punk mixed with some shoegaze and alt rock.

 

Don't know if I love his clean vocals but Ordinary Corrupt Human Love grew on me, so this probably will too

 

I personally think his vocals are the weakest part of the band in general but I’m enjoying this.

I think country and shoegaze can mix, there’s been bootgaze bands in the past but it seems super niche based on what I’ve seen.

 

I have no idea why Brian Eno is on this, even those ambient tracks are dope

 

I'm gonna go home and start working on a country shoegaze album right now. The cleveland kids would probably love it.

Steel lap guitar in a shoegaze song would be sick.
