I wish. Unfortunately groups like ADF have so successfully conflated antisemitic with anti-Israel that I highly doubt there’s a legitimate case.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was going to go see it this weekend but that along with this Spyglass bullshit makes it pretty easy to not give them a cent.
Yeah, not gonna change anything but I loved it and I'll be cutting it from my best-of lists this year. What a bummer.
It’d make no sense to go on without the literal main character. They’ll have to start from scratch with a new cast and new story and millions of people are already committed to not watching.
I don’t really know the ins and outs, but can Jenna and the others even drop out if they wanted to? Like sure she can ask to be let go, but I believe they all already signed, so wouldn’t they be forced to film if the studio chooses?
I think asking out is a first step, there are some other ways to get fired too or buy out of the contract probably if they push back.
Good for Jenna. Scream needs her more than she needs Scream. Better to stick by your friend who you know the studio wronged.
No? Lol they aren’t slaves. I don’t know what the contract says about financial ramifications but generally actors dropping out doesn’t seem entirely out of the ordinary
You do know that they sign a contract for a reason, right? Studios have absolutely forced people to appear in films to meet contractual obligations before.
Yes I know how contracts work. When you say forced I don’t think you mean literally a judge would say you have to go act. Strict performance remedies are very rare and I’ve never heard of one for actors
They can't just say tell the studio "no thanks I'm good", but it's absolutely within their power to get out of their contracts. Like Penlab said, they could probably breach the same "morality clause" that Melissa did by saying she doesn't support genocide (great morals over there Spyglass). Jenna especially could probably even just buy her way out
I didn’t literally mean forced, come on. I meant that the studio could easily just tell them no and they’d have to breach the contract, which would just cause them more bullshit than it may be worth to them
This is nuts. I really enjoyed 5 and 6 and was so pumped for 7. Can't use these characters anymore now if you ask me since only 2 of the core four may be involved. I wonder if they even make a 7 now. Or if they try to reboot it with an entirely different cast. Or somehow throw it to just Neve (who better demand triple the salary for getting back into this hot mess), Neve, Kirby (maybe). Also have Skeet show up and start as a vision that STU starts to see. Stu could definitely get interest in this. My final thought and hope is this all blows over, movie gets delayed for a while, original plan back on with new distributors or whatever
it would be kinda cool if nobody agreed to get involved with the franchise now because of this, but im not naive enough to think that people won't take money when handed to them.
There are still Hollywood stars alive who were blacklisted the first time around, and yet here we go again apparently.
