  1. Scream Vi was already goofy as hell. I like Landon but this does not bode well

The Happy Death Day movies are great. Freaky was great. I’m totally in.

I agree with these 3 but his most recent movie not so much. But nobody is perfect. I’m gonna try to stay optimistic on this one

This is nothing against Landon… I’m just not ready for Radio Silence to hand over the reigns. Wes/Kevin and team were plagued with so much shit for Scream 3. Radio Silence put out two really cool films and could’ve hit the grand slam on the 3rd.. I’m bummed.

  6. The first HDD is great, I have nothing good to say about the second. Freaky is somewhere in the middle and I didn’t bother finishing We Have A Ghost. Doubt this guy has a good Scream movie in him but after 6 I don’t think Radio Silence does either

I heard on the latest episode of the Keep It podcast that the unedited version Scream 3 is floating around somewhere--supposedly more brutal kills and more time spent in the scenes so everything doesn't feel so rushed/disjointed. I think Scream 3 is getting a 4k blu-ray release later this year, fingers crossed this version makes it on there.

Watching Scream 2.. what I would do to see a full version of Robert Rodriguez’s “Stab.”

Just now saw the director announced for Scream 7. Not optimistic about a new director 2/3 the way through a trilogy. Hopefully the consistency and tone don’t change.

Plus radio silence created the core 4 so I’d rather see them close their story

I’m ready for a hard reboot, I can’t do another film where the killer is some long lost relative every character in the cast should already know of.

There hasn’t been a relative as a killer since scream 4, but I agree that with a new director I’d rather have a reboot and leave the core 4 story alone unless radio silence finishes it.

I’d love to be wrong though and the new director delivers a great conclusion to the new trilogy

Not a relative to the core cast in that way, but I mean Scream 5 and Scream 6 killers were definitely related.

I love Christopher Landon's directing style and it's not far off from Radio Silence. Can't see it being drastically different with Radio Silence still being producers on the film.

I’ve only seen Freaky and it was a good, fun comedy film. The last 2 scream films have leaned much more on the serious tone so that’s my biggest worry. Will the 7th film close out the trilogy with the same tone as the first two or will it be much more comedic.

The third act of 6 is basically a comedy.

It also doesn't make sense in this universe that the descendant of Billy Loomis, who has killed 4 people total, is some genius knife wielder with amazing killing skills. Does this imply being good at killing people is genetic? This new character should not have any of the skills they have, it doesn't make sense!

It'd be really easy for this to go even further off the rails with a new director involved.

If this is another asymmetrical horror game, I’m gonna throw it all off a bridge.

agreed. i'm sure this has been said, but it's kind of frustrating in hindsight to have one character spell out that "nobody is safe" and then everyone from the earlier movies, 5 included, comes out alive

  24. I liked 6 and I want to rewatch it, but watching the first one now, it's dawned on me that Scream's greatest asset was 1. taking stock of the rules and 2. breaking them. Now, it feels like this new trilogy is so steeped in fan service that it focuses way more on the first part and not at all on the second. every reveal feels more focused on emulating a previous movie than it is trying something new. and I say that as someone who loves 5

I thought Scream VI was the best since the original. I wasn’t excited for it to be NY, but I liked how ghostface was much more relentless in this film. It felt more aggressive.
