I’d argue that the ending of 6 shows the opposite.

Giving 6 a second watch. Still really underwhelmed by the reveal, but Melissa really comes into her own as Sam. Complete 180 from where I was with her character from Scream 5.

Sorry for the quad post… but that fucking bodega scene.

Ghostface with a shotgun is a high point of this series for me.

Evil Dead Rise was fun, love the setting choice. Managed to both be really silly and actually scary at times.

Has this world stopped asking what it's thinking?

Halfway through my VI rewatch. Keeping your eye on certain people throughout these movies makes the series so much fun to revisit.

Finally got to watch VI. I thought it was pretty amazing up until the final reveal. I thought the motive was lame/too predictable and acting was pretty awful. It was still an enjoyable time and the tension was probably the best of any of the sequels during the build up. Give me as many of these movies as possible.

Isn't the acting during the reveal in a Scream movie ALWAYS hammy and over-the-top though? I'm forgetting 2. But 1, 3 and 4 certainly are. That's just what these movies are and want to be.

  11. The reveal in 2 is the worrrst hahaha, which is why I find it so charming that 6, the second film with this group of characters, mirrors 2 in that regard

Yeah the reveals have always been over the top and super dramatic considering these insane folks have had to "keep it cool" the whole time and now they can finally "shine." Scream VI in particular tho, Bailey was barely keeping it together the whole movie and was reacting to his kid being killed (despite the fact that his kid had been killing folks anyway), so the way he came across in the third act seemed completely understandable to me.

Anyway, rewatched last night, still love it and still cackle when Mindy says "that guy's dead" during the Ghostace chase through the apartment bathroom

Rewatched this last night, and fuck, I just can’t like this.

The suspension of belief has gone too far with this series. The largest mass murder/serial killer story in the nations history (in this universe) and yet there’s just random family members that keep appearing that no one has ever seen before.

I'm down with the killers being over the top, I just wish they'd use a different formula. Billy and Stu were very different upon their reveals...but every killer since (maybe with the exception of Roman), has just been a retooled version of Stu. The wide eyed/uncontrollable spitting and lines like, "DO YOU KNOW HOW EASY IT WAS TO blah blah blah."

Ghostface itself was so fucking bad-to-the-bone menacing in this installment, so I'd just like to see the killer bring that same intensity once revealed, not a group of babbling chuckleheads.

I really fucking hate the guy next door and that subplot. Really think that Kirby’s role with pretty lame.

the guy next door is just there to throw you off but they do it so poorly that you know from the jump its not him

He is just bad - perhaps if they had cast someone a bit more believable it would have worked for me.

the ending wasn’t as bad to me this time around but those two complaints rang true.

  22. You know it's not him immediately because we see him (alone) desperately trying to get whatshername's attention in the apartment across from him when Ghostface is in her room
