I’m pretty sure the reference was entirely to the fact that both wear a shit ton of pantsuits in bold colors and are reporters.
Scream 3 also has the meta layer being an indictment of predators and abuse in Hollywood while also being produced by one of the biggest predators of all time. It's my least favorite of the series, but it's fascinating and I still enjoy it.
Just had Chat GPT pitch a seventh installment to me and it was a Ghostface stalking and terrorizing them online only to be revealed as noted technological extremist Stu Macher lmao
Saw this on Saturday and finally have solidified some thoughts. I really liked it, the things that didn't work for me were the times it shoots itself in its own foot. If you're not going to kill off one of the core four then why have Mindy state one of the rules is nobody is safe? A big part of the marketing is Ghostface saying "there's never been one like me" or whatever then it turns out to be another disgruntled family, so yeah there actually had been, dude. These things stand out and seem avoidable and are just begging for criticism. But... Thinking about it more, the movie handles those criticisms internally BY stating that this is a different kind of Ghostface. This Ghostface doesn't give a shit about movies and isn't playing by those rules. It was a hard logic for me to grasp at first after being conditioned by 5 Screams to only think about the rules. This doesn't necessarily make me like those things any more, but it's easier to swallow knowing the filmmakers actually thought about it and it wasn't just a flaw. I do think killing off Chad would've made Tara's arch more impactful. She was shutting out her feelings and not processing and now the guy she had strong feelings for is gone and she never told him so going forward she's not going to be so emotionally shut off. I never understood the criticism of Sam in the 5, I could see her not shining as much compared to Tara, but I think she was great in this, and I'm really interested to see where her character goes in the next one. I think the duo of Sam and Tara is great, and no other entries in this franchise have made us care where the characters are emotionally going into the next installment as these two. I dig the core four as well. Very cool set pieces with the Bodega, ladder, subway, and high rise apartment. Some gnarly gore, and is this the scariest in the series? Besides some scenes in the first, I think it might be. Really liked that it was set on Halloween and wished it lived in that a little more. Could've used a little more establishing of NYC, the Montreal shows through sometimes. The reveal is a little wack and again leaves more questions than answers. I'm not a nitpicker, but why did Ethan call for help for Tara on the subway? How did Dylan McDermott Mulroney get a body into that apartment? Who cares? I love this franchise and hope they keep making them at least as high a quality as this.
Im assuming Paramount+ release could be 4/24 (45 days from theatrical release) Excited to see this again.
