Just read a theory that Mindy and Chad's father is Joel, the cameraman from Scream 2. That would be hilarious.

 

1, 2, 6, 3/4, 5.

 

6 might have the stupidest killer reveal, but the movie doesn’t have a scene I outright dislike and wish didn’t exist that I can recall. Neither do the first two. But the following should all be cut.

3 - Knife throw at Dewey’s forehead.
4 - Anthony Anderson’s death scene.
5 - Billy’s ghost telling Sam where the knife is.

 

1, 5=4, 2, 6 kinda =3

 

Enjoyed it more than expected.

If anything, it's worth seeing in theaters on $5 dollar Tuedsday.

 

I thought she was equally as good as Ortega in this

 

I think James from Dead Meat confirmed it and he is friends with the guys who made 5 and 6.

 

in my Scream 5 rewatch that didn't bug me as much, the knife is very clearly poking out from behind a drape or whatever

 

Yeah, I was always able to look the other way on that one. Whether that's right or not, I don't know. But the Ulrich stuff was more eyeroll-y to me here.

 

Dislike the Ulrich stuff in both, to be honest.

 

The thing that bugs me about the Billy stuff is that it almost paints him as a redeemable character, which he clearly isn’t meant to be.

If it’s all in her head then, sure, she can imagine him saying whatever. But if it’s actually him…barf

 

I get this, but my counterpoint would be that it's less about any redemption for him and more about Sam wrestling with the baggage that comes with your father being a serial killer

 

It’s not actually him. They are visions Sam has. It’s not Billy communicating from the grave.

 

Revisited 5 yesterday.. absolutely died when they displayed Billy's picture on the television at Mindy and Chad's house. It's a high def pic taken directly from Scream. I'm sure it was intentional...it's just hysterical.

 

I’m probably very forgiving to 6 because I see 1 + 2 as a perfect combo and the NY setting and parallels to the 2nd are gold.

It’s dumb, and they still have no reasoning or explanation as to why he appears to her in his final look when he died. Wounds and all.

 

I take it as that's how she imagines he looked. She didn't get to see him when he was alive, right? Her only frame of reference is news coverage.

 

I mean, his look was replicated for Stab. And we see his shirt in the shrine, don’t we? So, it’s not like that appearance was private and never seen in public.

 

Yeah, which would be like family photos or high school photos of him. Unless some coroner decided to leak photos of the crime scene, News stations wouldn’t show images of his dead body on the air. The only people who know what Billy looked like in that outfit after being shot and stabbed was Sidney, her dad, Randy and Gale.

I too just wish they just didn’t do the Billy flashbacks altogether. Or maybe just make her hear his voice.

 

Or, maybe we're all just doing mental gymnastics and it is in fact a supernatural element in the Scream universe lol

 

Billy’s ghost begins to haunt Sidney in Scream 7. Sam and her realize they are having the same visits and that the final Ghostface to beat is, in fact, a ghost who has been pushing all of the other ghostfaces to put on the mask like he did Sam.
