I will have to take it back a few pages and read everyone's reactions, but before I do that, I'll say this was goofy and I had a lot of fun. Felt like a cross between the second and fourth entries, and the quality follows suit. Checks all of the boxes of what I want out of a Scream movie even though I have some issues with third act. I spent a good portion thinking it might be my favorite since the original, but for now, I'd put 1, 5, and 2 above it. Already excited to watch it again, though. I'll watch as many of these as they wanna make.
Had a lot of fun with this. I already liked Tara and Mindy after Scream 5, but now I like Sam and Chad as well. Agree that Chad and/or Gale should've bit the dust. There's always a meta line about how all bets are off or anyone could die, but all of the major characters in this one survived. Idk if it was done on purpose or not since I'm not sure how widespread the criticism for Melissa Barrera/Sam was when Scream 5 came out, but I liked what they did with the conspiracy theories and her feeling like a pariah in this one. I am officially a fan of the Core Four. Also, great to see Kirby back. Rewatched the series leading up to this and Scream 4 is maybe my second fav now.
I know there would’ve been a cost associated with it, but I desperately wish they would’ve done one shot of ghostface in Times Square.. would’ve been iconic.
Her acting I think. I didn't think she was great in 5 tbh but the more I watched it the more I came around to her. Loved her in 6
Again I gotta catch up on the thread so excuses if this was already posted but it was kinda fucked up that they said "Sydney deserves her happy ending" even though they would pay Neve enough to be in the movie lol
Mostly dumb shit. I’m sure you could go back in this thread or look on Reddit. It was gross. People wished death upon her. Just ungodly bad.
She was really bad in 5, completely void of any emotional presence. I remember her being hotly debated here but don’t really recall anything nasty, maybe I’m forgetting something. You would not catch me dead ever visiting reddit dot com but I’m sure people were awful there as they always seem to be about everything ever
Maybe I read into it, but it fit the context. If I’m wrong, then I’m wrong. also, hateful violent comments are so normalized, someone said they wanted Melissa to die on here. In this case they did mean the character. But that’s how normal it was to shit on her online. It was gross.
I don't think wishing death upon her and wishing her character would die in a horror movie are nearly the same thing, but I certainly don't think she is noticeably bad or out of place in 5. And she crushed this one
I was referring specifically to the conversation surrounding 5 back when that came out haha, sorry I thought that part was clear. The fish comment a couple pages back was out of pocket yes
I honestly did not think anything of calling something lifeless and vacant a dead fish. Clearly it’s a description of her performance and not her as a human being. I thought it was a pretty common expression.
i….dont think any of the acting in these movies is remotely good lol, but thats not why i’m going to see them.
The expression is generally used for a woman who just lays there during sex. That’s the common expression. So yea, doing that was gross.
No I don’t think so either - I just find her to be the worst. I would just like to find the lead at least somewhat desirable/likeable
Yeah I mean I see the logic and earnestly believe it probably just came out worse than you meant it to sound, but referring to a woman as anything other than a human is simply never going to be a good look
