I really enjoyed the pacing and character development, so my suggestions are just in reference to other’s complaint that no main characters died.

I enjoyed this, although it was the least suspenseful of any. There were no parts where I was actually nervous. Few hot takes
Opening kill scene was not very intense or "scream" feeling. But once the professor is killed and Flash from Spiderman takes the mask off i was dumb founded. Like, no way that just happened. I dont like it, but at same time i love it cause thats a mind fuck. But once he gets to his place and phone rings I got it. Very cool, but the actual opening kill scene sucked. So happy Chad and Mindy survived. Film not having Sydney did not hurt it at all. Could have done without Kirby being the FBI agent. Didn't add anything really. I need more Ghostface with a shotgun. Third act was pretty weak. But it was fine.

  4. Feel like this was hardly a disagreement, let alone an argument. Why people pick fights online for no reason I'll never understand

I mean, it all seems pointless when you remove all context.

Just got out. Still gathering my thoughts, but I feel absolutely empty after this one.

    Really bummed.

My favorite humorous moment was Mindy standing on the subway platform and Ethan pops up next to her. She yelled something along the lines of “Ew, Ghostface. Get away from me Ghostface seriously” in his face and then walks 5 feet away in a crowd of people just to give him a dirty look like wtf are you staring at?

Actually laughed unexpectedly. The acting from the twins as well as the sisters was a step up from the last film imo, and that made me enjoy it more too. I think I wanna see it in theaters again.

Really glad I decided to rewatch 2 today in advance of seeing this.

I think maybe I still like 5 better, but I really loved the new setting, bodega and subway scenes were both great. Opening kill was cool as well

I'm glad we get to see the Core Four together so often in this movie. Feels like we didn't get enough scenes with Sidney, Dewey, and Gale all together in past films.

Would be funny if the Core Four survives at least 2 more movies in spite of how many times they keep getting stabbed

Well, I was hoping to wake up feeling differently about this film, but I’m still left feeling disappointed.

To give credit where credit’s due, I loved the city vibe.. we definitely needed to step away from suburbia for a bit. I also felt that the stunt workers behind the mask were the best we’ve ever seen in this franchise.. they absolutely added a level of intensity to Ghostface that we haven’t seen before. Also, the subway, ladder, and bodega scenes were executed exceptionally well and gave us a level of suspense that we haven’t seen since the sound booth scene in Scream 2. Finally, the nicest surprise for me was that Melissa Barrera definitely seems to have found her footing as an actor.

As far as the negatives go.. Jfc, the final reveals are getting more and more ridiculous, so much so that the ability to suspend any level of disbelief is becoming impossible. Ethan? Really? It’s just become sooo cartoonish. Also, the dialogue of the killers may be the cringiest we’ve seen. They’re just paraphrasing or straight up repeating, word for word, lines that have been said by killers in previous installments. There are just no stakes with these empty antagonists… which is a shame because Liana Liberato has the chops to deliver much more. Okay.. and the shrine set piece?.. was really hoping the justification for this existing would be stronger than what we got… it’s just Scooby-Doo level dumb… very reminiscent of Scream 3. Last, but not least.. Kirby. This is no reflection on Hayden, but rather the way her character was written. This is just such a dramatic shift from who Kirby was in Scream 4 and the whole FBI thing felt so phoned in.. like they couldn’t find a better reason to bring her back!?
End rant.. just had to get something out in writing.

I don’t think it’s official yet. I don’t think the source was super legit. But I may be wrong. I assume it’s gonna happen based on the above posts though.

Seemed weird to hype the NYC backdrop for the film and then just completely ignore that outside of the subway scene.

That Central Park scene was veryyyy noticeably not NYC. I assumed there would be a lot more running through the city and NYC inspired set pieces. This movie felt like Toronto/Montreal.

  23. It was filmed in Montreal, ha. I thought that was weird too when I saw it at the end of the credits waiting for the stinger. Why hype NYC so much and not film there at all?

I mean I know why but still lol

Yeah, I assume in order to get the movie shot and out in a year, you can’t secure a lot of NYC locations. “24” did the same thing, where they hyped up moving to NYC then it didn’t make much of a difference. Would have loved a Times Square sequence. But that probably would have cost a ton.

Also agree on Kirby. Hayden seemed weirdly subdued the entire movie, like she was playing a different character.

To be fair, there was a 12 yr difference between the events of 4 & 6, Kirby was a teen in 4 and had almost been murdered. I’d imagine that would change a person.
