Need a sequel with like 50 Ghostface’s. Cult of Ghostface. Big like National problem of people getting murdered all the time. Sam goes under cover and kills most of them because of nepotism making her way better at being a murderer in this universe’s logic. She should also be the one who finally kills Sydnee but it’s like a tragic mistake and not on purpose and she blames herself after. Get me in the writer’s room but it’d have to be like Scream 10, you can’t have that many Ghostface’s and do a sequel.

As much as I felt Barrera did better in this she’s still a dead fish. The twins were awesome. Kirby missed for me. Gale was better but some of the interactions with the core seems shoehorned in. Fat, prosthetic billy still doesn’t work (though it would have been weirder had they not brought him back). The final reveal and act was wack af. Violence was great. It honestly felt like it was a blip - I watched and it was fine but it didn’t leave any emotional mark for me (safe for gale a little).

Did anyone catch this in 3D? I just had the thought that there wasn’t a single scene outside of the ladder sequence that I could imagine this made sense for lol.

Fuck no haha but yea, during that scene I thought to myself, “this is the only scene where the 3D would have made sense.” And I was right haha

Yeah 3-D wasn’t worth it, that’s just the time we picked. Some cool shots in the end sequence but don’t go out of your way for it.

If I ever see a movie in 3-D you can be sure I did it on accident and I was fuming about it the entire movie

I enjoyed this more than Scream 5, which I didn’t expect. I really like the aggressive, adrenaline heavy approach to this. Ghostface was relentless. I also appreciate it being character driven and dive into the Core Four. The reveal was a bit eh, but that’s really my only complaint.

Chad surviving was a bit of a reach though. Dude was stabbed like 20 times

  12. I don't agree with it being "low stakes" I'm glad none of the core four or legacy characters died tbh (still sad about Dewey and Judy). Just because they ended up surviving doesn't take away from what you felt in the moment when you think they're dying, at least for me. there was a similar criticism towards Quantumania that Kang should've killed one of the, uh, core four, or at the very least they should've gotten stuck in the quantum realm, and I sorta agreed at first but now I'm kinda relieved it didn't go there.

Lack of consequences for main characters does in fact take away from the feelings I had in the moment.

To go from thinking, “damn, they killed off Gale and Mindy, they’re not fucking around. And they stabbed Chad dozens of times, he must be dead. Shit is serious” to “oh, they’re all fine. All the people that died were random people I don’t care about.” in a span of like 30 seconds is not good. It doesn’t ruin the movie for me, but it lessens the impact of their “death” scenes. It makes the whole rules scene kind of dumb because it declared everyone was up to die, but nope, not really.

Endings can recontextualize a story. Like I said, here, it wasn’t ruined, just kind of a bummer. But an example of an ending ruining the story is the series finale of How I Met Your Mother. I can’t watch it anymore. It changed the entire show. It ruined every episode for me. It’s not the same anymore.

  15. Eh, I had fun with this, let them have their high stakes in the next one. I do agree about HIMYM tho

    1 > 5 > 4 & 6 > 2 & 3
I like that they're getting more and more brutal, and I like that we're taking the time to really get to know Sam and Tara. I think the reveal was kinda dumb, but I mean that's fine, it's part of the charm of the series that everything has to be interconnected, 2 & 3 reveals had the same problem and they're still fun movies

Might be my favorite sequel? Just had a lot of fun from the jump, and minimal complaints.

More brutal attacks with less death is silly. It feels more like a cartoon that way. Anika had her stomach cut wide open and only died because she fell off the ladder. That’s wild. She should’ve never made it to the ladder. Obviously, it’s all fiction and they can write it however they want, but if you’re gonna go out of your way to make the “death” more brutal and then not kill them, it kind of cheapens it all. Tara got stabbed in the back and then doesn’t seem to react to it the rest of the movie. Chad gets stabbed dozens of times and lays there bleeding out for an extended period of time. But, yea, totally fine. Again. It was one thing when Dewey did it twice in a row. It’s happened too much in this one.

I still really liked the movie, but they need to either commit to killing off main cast or to at least make their attacks less brutal.

At least Scream 2 had the balls to kill Randy. I still wish they hadn’t, but they committed to it.

  20. I mean yeah I guess. I totally get where you're coming from. I fully expected Tara to die in the opening scene of 5 but obviously she didn't, I guess that's just what they're doing now. I'm just saying I'm still having fun with it.

But they did kill Dewey. And we learn that they purposefully didn’t kill Tara to lure Sam back to Woodsboro.

I still have fun with them, too. But that doesn’t mean I can’t also be critical of some decisions and desire better.

I liked that they didn’t kill Gale — especially after referencing Luke dying in Last Jedi. I think killing the twins and introducing one more likable character to come along to the next installment would’ve been smart. The neighbor was very bland from a personality perspective, not really excited about him.

I mean, they didn’t all have to die, but someone of note should have died. Everyone who died was a nobody to us.

Samara Weaving, I love her, but I only cared because of her, not the character.

Edit: the gentleman caller in the bathtub.

And that’s it, right? I don’t count Ghost faces dying.
