The wife and I both enjoyed this quite a bit. If I had recognized Mikey Madison, from Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, before the end of the movie, I probably would have had a hunch she was in on it. She plays crazy well. Her final moments reminded me so much of her death in OUATIH I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be paying homage in some way. Jenny Ortega was good, but I was not impressed with most of the new cast members. I hope the directing duo of Bettinelli-Opin and Gillett pivot back to original stories for the next film.

I saw Scream 2022 for a 4th time last night and feel confident in my below ranking of the entire franchise thus far--also included a ranking of the TV series' seasons for anyone interested. This latest movie is the strongest for me outside of the first 2, and I love 4 and really like 3 despite its glaring issues (on top of frustration with how great it sounds it initially should've been). Scream '22 has some clunky dialogue and performances for sure, but overall, I think it's pretty great and enjoyable.

    Scream
    Scream 2
    Scream '22
    Scream 4
    Scream 3

    Scream season 2
    Scream season 3
    Scream season 1

I think my film ranking would be the same. And I don't even think 3 is that bad, which shows how strong the series is.

i think i would rank this one at the very bottom, idk, it just brought nothing to the table that excited me. i missed wes more than i expected. still: there are no bad scream sequels, and the only other major horror franchise i can say that about is child's play

Oh god - I hate so many of the later chuck sequels. Feel better about recent stuff though.

Rewatched 2 and 3 this week because my wife remembers neither of them and I liked 2 significantly less and 3 significantly more which was..unexpected..lol.

You liked 3 more than 2? Man, I can hardly watch the third installment. 1,2,4, and 5 are all great and have extremely high replay value to me.

my main hot take remains that 3 is wildly underrated.

No, sorry, I meant compared to the last time I watched each of them. 1 and 3 are still my bookends but my ranking for 2, 4, and 5 honestly depends on the day, ha.

Saw Scream 2022 for the second time last Tuesday. Honestly, I liked it a lot less then on first viewing. My wife was away this week so I had a scream marathon then went out to see 2022 again to pick up on any Easter eggs I missed. Catching the Easter eggs I missed was fun, but some of dialogue was pretty bad on second viewing. I hadn’t seen scream 4 since theaters and that was way better than I remember

    my ranking would be

    1
    2
    4
    2022
    3

    2
    22
    3

But I still need to rewatch 3
