I really liked everything about this except the actress that plays Sam aside from most of the third act and the above mentioned relentless stabbing of Richie which is uh unfortunate lol and the actress that plays Amber but only as they’re explaining the motive..was a little too over the top which I know is a weird complaint about a Scream killer ha also did I hear red right hand in the scene where Stu’s newphew? gets killed?
I did not enjoy this. Seen all 5 of these now in the theater and did not enjoy this one as much as anticipating. Scream>Scream 4> Scream 2> Scream 2022> Scream 3 was cool and surprising to see all the billy moments. The end motive was just horrible and so thrown together. The beginning scene was too long and not even remotely scary. All 3 original members barely played a role in it, which I understand why, but still felt under utilized. I didn't even care for Syd or Gale. Dewy stole the show, but knew he was done for
Thanks for sharing this! Scream 5 & 6 premises didn't sound too good. Plus Emma Robert's died in 4 so I'm a but baffled.
Kevin Williamson said he would have kept Kirby dead and it was Wes that decided to leave her fate open. So I’m glad Williamson isn’t in charge of the story going forward.
https://deadline.com/2022/01/scream-spider-man-weekend-box-office-mlk-1234912797/amp/ Eyeing a $32 million opening weekend. Slightly above expectations which is good.
Wes had made comments online after S4 saying he was surprised anyone asked for another when it didn’t seem like anyone liked the latest installment.
I legitimately cannot tell if I hate the new one or if I I am just too upset but either way I am rectonning it from my mind because I am too emotionally stunted to handle my upset so this never happened and it does not exist in the franchise to me thank you that is all
Hypothetically speaking, if this movie did exist, what would you dislike about it so much? Strictly hypothetical of course
I feel this so much as well. This is def an anthology addition lol I am mad each time I think about it
Another very small nitpick. Its revealed that Amber is the one who killed Dewey, but she’s like 5’2” and the ghost face that killed Dewey was taller than him and lifted him off the ground with knives in his back. It doesn’t add up but whatever. The kill was still pretty good.
I am devastated about Dewey's death 1st and foremost which colors any objective view I may have of this movie and I refuse to believe That it happened and I refused to acknowledge it as canon because I am in a denial stage of grief. Secondly I have a massive pet peeve about "abandoned" hospital scenes in scary movies. I have not read this thread to see what's been discussed but I cannot stand in a movie when open functioning hospitals essentially appear abandoned when the killer shows up when they are usually busy And full of people and I just find it extremely unrealistic that they could cut the power without a backup generator and nobody else around. Was it really just that 1 cop that was dead in the hospital was nobody else around? I also felt like the inhaler excuse to go to the house party was so flimsy that I did wonder if Tara was the killer. I know they made reference to the asthma once before in the movie but even after she was fighting the killer in the beginning and trying to get herself out of the situation in the hospital at no point was her Asthma ever a serious issue until they were driving in the car and then suddenly she needed her inhaler right then and there with no option to wait?? Thirdly I just didn't really Love any of the new characters introduced. I couldn't really care less about Sam or Tara. I don't know why but for some reason it just annoys me that Billy loomis has a random love child out there. I thought the twins were OK but I wasn't especially attached. I was Attached to Wes with the connection of his mom but I expected him to fight back a lot more Because it seemed like his mom had prepared him fairly well but instead the misdirect was more around when he was going to be attacked. Which is fine but they referenced his friends teasing him for being overly prepared and then wasnt at all lol so i guess i was disappointed but its not a real crituque of mine. The twin boy's girlfriend I couldn't stand. I thought she was really weird and annoying and did not add anything interesting to the group of friends at all. I felt like she was so bizarre like not even how a human being functions and not in the monologuing meta that scream does often. just like in a weird way. I was also annoyed the twin boy was smart enough not to go up alone with her but dumb enough to find her alone. I didn't care about amber at all but I was annoyed she was shot and pushed into the glass case but had no signs of injury after unless I missed it. I always liked that ghostface is human and fallible but she was like almost invincible. I liked the boyfriend enough but I didn't like anyone as much as I liked Kirby. I didn't think this movie added anything new to say that 4 didn't already
I almost completely agree with each and every one of your critiques. Though, I still enjoyed it more than I think you did.
All valid! The hospital thing has definitely been discussed in here as a problem with both this movie and final act of 4. It’s really dumb for sure, but one of those things I personally kinda just accept as part of the series. But especially with how it directly led to Dewey’s death, I totally get why you or anyone else would be mad at it. I’d argue there was some kind of backup generator considering the phones and elevator worked though The inhaler thing totally worked for me lol - I have an inhaler and don’t always need it, but if I leave the house and forget it at home it kinda stresses me out. However yeah it was silly that none of the non-killers saw anything wrong with emptying out the house down to the only established potential suspects lol. Just like, run in, get the inhaler, get out. It shouldn’t have turned into more Agreed on some of the new characters though. The main two sisters did absolutely nothing for me, and were probably my only big gripe with the movie. I guess maybe it didn’t bug me much because of the whole “passing the torch” theme, but would be bummed to see them carry on the series. The lead one especially was pretty bad, she delivered lines like a robot
Just saw it again with my wife and was able to pick up on the Easter eggy/homage stuff a little more. Sam’s performance wasn’t as distractingly bad to me this time either so I was able to enjoy it more overall. Too early rankings 1>4>2>5>3
