I think all of the DGG Halloween movies suck pretty hard, but I agree the big swing in Ends is at least somewhat ambitious. There’s no ambition whatsoever in 7. As said before, no one feels like they’re scared of Ghostface and Sidney reacts to people she knows getting killed like she would if someone dropped a coffee cup at her business.
In my mind it’s Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare On Elm Street, and now Scream as the main ones. I’ve only seen multiple Scream’s.
I’ve seen four of the screams, but otherwise nah. Maybe I will but I tend to be a completionist, I don’t really want to go down the road where I know a bunch of the movies are going to be bad. I’m very anti-sequel in general.
Whenever I tell people I only drink water they always say “not even (some drink)?” No! I’d have to watch them in order and finish them all even if people say I don’t have to.
I’m really excited for Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, I hope it explores the concept of horror sequels without needing to do a bunch of movies doing the same thing. the horror script I’m working on now is about how reboot culture acts as a vicious cycle, a trap you can’t escape, just to give people what they desire.
I have a concept for one I’d love to write but it’d have to be a knock off, I don’t think they’re going to go outside of the nostalgia bait lane ever again.
