I've said it before and I'll say it again...I love what this franchise was, EVEN when there was stuff I didn't love about 6, but this one made it abundantly clear that it's time to old yeller this shit
The reveal for 6 was pretty bad especially everything involving Dermot Mulroney (he is terrible in everything he’s in) but this movie has me taking away any complaints I have about 6 lol
The only way to make this franchise interesting again would be if they completely started new with a completely different story. They have effectively killed any interest I have in the current storyline.
He is not for me. Dude is always super awkward/over the top which is guess fits scream, but it just felt a little too obvious for me that he was one of the killers lol
Idk I'd probably put Ends below Scream 7. Scream 7 at least had ghostface and they can always improve in a sequel. Ends not only spit on the characters of Michael Myers and Laurie, but was also the end of that story. I honestly don't think I've ever been more disappointed walking out of a theater.
Ends is much better than Scream 7. I appreciate the swing they took more and more with time, regardless of whether it fully lands with me (and despite not loving Laurie's arc). At least they made a decision and stuck with it instead of having every side character show up an infinite number of times like a cartoon (I am well aware I am talking about horror franchises here) You can say Ends spit on the characters, but this is a movie that actively spit on the rest of the franchise and its fans lol
I haven't watched Ends since it came out, but am I remembering correctly that the townsfolk crowdsurf Michael into a shredder?
Kills is miles better than Scream 7. Even if it’s a dumb movie, it’s Michael on steroids fucking shit up. Plus Big John/Little John are awesome and better than any of the new characters in Scream 7. Awful dialogue aside, Kills is a lot of fun even if it’s super cringe at times.
Ends probably wouldn’t have pissed me off so much if it wasn’t the final part of a trilogy and totally killed my interest in all of the main characters for the sake of a new antagonist that ultimately kind of sucks lol
I still think Kills is one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. pisses me off too that DGG claimed he was ignoring all other sequels (again) with 2018 and then Kills just steals a bunch of their ideas (the hospital setting from 2 and the lynchmob from 4) and does them way worse. some real hack shit
Let’s make a love story between tortured Allyson and the town weirdo who seems incredibly off all while Michael is in the sewers for the first 3/4 of the movie. Like I get wanting to do something different, but nothing worked. I was just happy it was released on Peacock and I didn’t have to waste money on it lol
Kills is not good either but at least we get roughly 90 minutes of prime Michael going on a killing spree and not getting bullied by some loser like in Ends. Restraining Laurie to a hospital the entire time and never encountering Michael was one of the many horrible creative choices though
