Scream 4 is consistently the most overhyped imo. I know that's an unpopular opinion, and the hospital scene at the end is great, but I don't love the tonal shift that happened between Scream 3 and Scream 4. It's less fun and I think it's where the reveals start to get silly in a not so complimentary way.
I've said it before but I absolutely can't stand Randy in 2. took him from entertaining weird little dude to creepy incel at speeds never seen before or since it's definitely the best movie for Gale though (arguably the only one where she actually has an arc) so it evens out a bit
I’m not lawyer but Paramount is a publicly traded company if they lied about numbers they could be in big trouble. So no I don’t think Paramount is lying about the numbers. Also I think that interview did her more harm than good, especially calling out the other actors in Scream 7 and throwing Jenna Ortega under the bus.
Disagree...the only part that seems a little silly is the part about numbers. I don't think she threw Jenna under the bus at all in that interview. The interviewer asked her if she received support from anyone else in Hollywood, and Melissa said that simply wasn't the reality of things. Jenna may be lumped into that question, but Melissa didn't call her out specifically. Saying that her coworkers made the decision to cross that picket line and that they ultimately have to live with it seems very tame and reasonable imo.
Did anyone reach out to support you during that time? At least Jenna Ortega dropped out of “Scream.” [Shakes head] That’s not the reality of things… I took the quote to be that Jenna didn’t drop out of Scream in support of her.
I say this in full support of her - the inflated numbers quote to me is pretty bad. Like, it was going to do gangbusters and there was nothing saying otherwise. Saying they’re inflated is just ignoring reality. Everything else seems about right. The twins are total scabs for remaining on, especially when they had nothing to do and Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox sold out for the bag.
Could go either way, but I still think this hardly reads as her throwing anyone under the bus. She didn't even name Jenna in her answer - just said that support (Jenna's or in general) wasn't the reality of the situation. I don't think there's anything inflammatory about that response.
I could be reading into things too much because I have a friend who works in Hollywood and told me he had heard that Jenna dropped out because she was worried that if it bombed it would hurt her career as she would have been the lead of the movie.
Reminder that everyone should see I Love Boosters. Boots Riley has been vocally pro Palestine and the movie is a wonder.
Thoroughly enjoyed Scream 7 tonight. Silly, entertaining, predictable, a Turnstile song... I'm ready for Scream 8. Scream 5 still rules too. Love that one.
Pumped this is on Paramount+ now. Avoided it in theaters for obvious reason but there is no way I’m not seeing it.
not the Scream 7 love coming in three months after release! it hasn't been long enough to give this turd any grace!
I have not been able to stop thinking about how funny the AI "cameos" and how unbelievably underwhelming the reveal of this was ever since I watched it. Pretty sure I threw in the towel with time to spare after that.
I tried 2 nights in a row to get through a rewatch after seeing it opening night. Couldn't do it. So bad.
I am genuinely shocked anyone enjoyed this movie. I’ve heard people rank it above 3, 5 and 6 which is nuts. The nostalgia bating in this one is mind boggling bad and the reveal is honestly one of the worst for any major horror franchise. This is easily the worst horror movie I’ve seen this year and it’s not relatively close. Not even discounting all the fucked up stuff with Spyglass, this movie is objectively bad and supporting it is just going to lead them to making another awful sequel instead of course correcting or letting the franchise die.
This movie and Halloween Ends in a battle for the most pissed off I’ve been at the end of a movie I was somewhat looking forward to. I think this one takes it for just how consistently fun Scream is and even though I love Halloween Kills, it’s a pretty terrible movie so Ends sucking wasn’t surprising lol
Ends at least was doing something a little different. 7 is just “Hey, remember this?” When Courtney Cox rolled up for her big applause entrance and kills the home invader, that was a sign the movie was not in good hands.
The involvement of her and the Twins is the most random, meaningless writing imaginable. They just roll up out of nowhere and have zero trauma from the past 2 movies. They all act extremely casual/arrogant the entire time and it just feels completely hollow lol
