Fuck Scream 7 and it’s awful of course and all of that, but was in Atlanta and the surrounding area this past weekend and it was cool to eat and drink at where they filmed the best kill.
lol, this is probably the closest we’ll get to that given that the zuckermans were also showrunners on poker face
This movie actively pissed me off. Terrible dialogue, absolutely no substance and such an unnecessary entry into the franchise. Gayle and the Twins are absolutely wasted and there’s no reason for them to be there. All 3 of them seemed rather casual for having been tortured the entire time they’ve been in the franchise and do nothing for the most part. Tatum might be my least favorite character in a horror movie since the random weirdo chud they threw into Halloween Ends. Worst reveal of the Franchise and it’s not even close. Fuck Spyglass for absolutely ruining my favorite horror franchise when it had such a refreshing, promising direction.
The Big Picture Pod had it right by saying how casual the twins were for being stabbed numerous times. But also, compared to the previous sequels where the new characters were people you rooted for to survive and were fighting for their lives, all of these new ones seem chill with just eventually getting killed by Ghostface.
Yep, none of the new characters had any substance at all except the daughter. They actively made me not care for the twins when I really liked them in the previous 2 movies. Tatum had the most build up but was also robotic and the tonal changes in her character were laughably bad. Like I really didn’t care when anyone died. The beer tap kill and opening scene were the best parts and the opening scene wasn’t even all that great lol
So I finally got to watch this last night. I didn’t hate it. It wasn’t great by any means and is probably the 2nd worst in the franchise but I didn’t feel like I wasted 2 hours. Will probably never watch it unless I’m doing a series rewatch. I will say that I did like how they incorporated Stu in the movie but I wish the killers were connected to him. I had read a spoiler back in Decemberish that Anna Camp’s character was going to be revealed to be Stu’s sister, which while been there/done that it probably would have made more sense than her real motive, which I still don’t understand. And no one mentioned how Anna Camp’s son died and she didn’t care and there was no explanation as to why other than “he’s like his dad”. Very weird. I did hate how some of the kills were pretty graphic, I don’t think it was needed in a Scream movie, it’s not Saw. And I could have done without the twins who should have died in 6. Although to be fair I wasn’t really a fan of any of the new characters in 5 or 6. Really have no clue where they go with 8 as it does seem like there are no real ideas left. It will probably end up being Tatum’s dead boyfriend’s family blaming her for his death.
Being annoyed with graphic kills in a Scream movie but not the Stu appearance in this is breaking my brain lol I feel like there is no competition when it comes to a worse movie in the franchise
Scream has the unique element of every killer essentially being a copycat killer; when that was done in Friday the 13th Part V, people didn't like it, but I think it added something unique to the franchise. If I were writing Scream 8, I would set it somewhere completely different with next to no relation to the primary cast, at least nothing that tangibly effects the story. It's time for an (almost) total reboot imo.
Scream 3 still ranks dead last for me, even after Scream 7. I'd say 7 is the second worse for sure. Havent seen it since opening night, but will revisit it end of month when it hits Paramount+. This was probably the worst killer reveal though and Stu appearance was huge let down. But at least they didn't lead you to believe it was actually him the whole time and immediately clued everyone in on the AI. Didnt set it up for a "shocking" ending when 99.9% of viewers already saw it coming.
The scene where she’s walking through the house and it goes into a cameo fest felt like something you’d see in a first-person CD-ROM game from the 90s. Just endlessly embarrassing.
I’ve come around on 3 a lot in the last few years but it’s still very firmly in the bottom 2 for me. Would have to rewatch 7 to decide which is worse lol
You'd be surprised how many people are still trying to convince themselves Stu is still alive and will REALLY be back for Scream 8. It's wild.
One has nothing to do with the other. I didn’t say I was annoyed by them just didn’t think they were necessary. I thought they did a good job with Stu especially with the way everyone was talking about it I was expecting much much worse.
But what's the most hyped Scream movie? I would actually say 2, it gets a ton of praise, but would rank middle of the pack for me. I'd put OG, 4,5, & 6 over it. It has great characters and opening scene is classic, I just always hated Sid in that one and her bf. And the drama club scene, uhhhh. Mickey is great though and Randy.
I remember back in the distant past when I thought Scream 2's killer reveal was dumb as hell but it couldn't possibly get any worse in subsequent movies. how naive I was
