Also selfish, but the fact that we may never get another chance for a Christmas-set ghostface flick fucking kills me. Let me grieve yall.
S'cream, Ghostface is getting revenge on people for giving them dairy when they're lactose intolerant.
He’s been getting death threats for him and his children since the Melissa news came out because people blame him for it when he made it clear he wasn’t involved in the decision. So it’s pretty understandable why he probably quit. That aside, I’m pretty sure he’s being called out as a Zionist, not that they’re the ones coming after him.
Rewatched this last night. I need to reread the last 20 pages or so of the thread to see if I can pinpoint my thoughts, but I think where I'm at is...I can't say this one jumped the shark because plenty of the Scream reveals are silly, but I do think this is the first one where they kinda lost me. The ending just feels like a parody of a Scream movie to me in a way that is admittedly fun, but also transparent for the first time. And there's SO many amazing moments in this movie, like some of the best sequences in the franchise, but there's also so much meta humor that makes me roll my eyes, and so much CW-level drama between characters. I think if the film was 20 minutes shorter and more of a direct sequel to 5 than culmination of complicated lore, it would work much, much better as a standalone. TL;DR I really enjoyed revisiting this, don't get it twisted, but it's the first one in the franchise where the quality of the movie overall feels second to the reveal, which I think they also fumbled a bit. And Sam taking the time to dress as Ghostface at the end?? Idk, man. Anyways, working on my own treatment for Scream VII now lol
You’re really testing my patience lately, Aaron. Lol But nah, fair critiques. I just love it so much still though.
I think I'm being harsher because it is a film I genuinely enjoy and a franchise I love, so I know it's tough enough to take it. I like the movie a lot, I just think it started to lose me a bit in a way previous entries haven't before.
I think my least favorite part and most goofy is when Sam and Bailey run at each other on the balcony when Bailey still has a loaded gun. Takes me out of the movie every time. But it’s still probably my third favorite of the franchise. Probably in the minority on that and I’m sure I’ll go back and forth with 2 or 4 taking its place. I think I just really have a soft spot for the new cast so I overlook the flaws. It’s definitely understandable though
The new cast is really good. I felt extra bad for Barrera this time around, not just because of recent events but also because of what she dealt with after 5. She's so good, I don't know what people were thinking. Gooding is great, too.
Yeah it’s stupid how much hate she got. The core four just really works and their chemistry is great. I also don’t get all the hate Mindy gets. People really hate her character apparently, which I didn’t even know until I checked out the subreddit after Melissa’s firing. I love her personally.
Chiming back in to say, as much as I personally enjoy them, they really should have killed Gale and Chad. Stakes would have gotten very real, very fast.
Yeah, but with Sidney and Dewey out, I think the time was right to cut the cord and let this new cast with great chemistry do their own thing. They're just calling back to so much that has happened over the span of five movies and nearly 30 years.
