will be streaming on netflix. based on the 2013 soman chainani (who's co-writing the screenplay) novel of the same name The film is set to follow two best friends, Sophie (Caruso) and Agatha (Wylie), as they join the School of Good and Evil with high expectations, only to end up turning in completely unexpected directions — princess-like Sophie goes to the School for Evil, and goth-looking Agatha enters the School for Good. starring sofia wylie as agatha and sophia anne caruso as sophie. also featuring charlize theron, laurence fishburne, michelle yeoh, ben kingsley, patti lupone, rob delaney, rachel bloom, and peter serafinowicz
The premise of this kind of makes me think of the anime Gabriel Dropout and how Vignette is a demon but a sweetheart and how Raphiel the angel is pure malicious evil. Anyway, without knowing anything about the novel, I presume the moral of the story will end up being something like good and evil are things you do, not things that you are, or something like that. Pretty nice cast. Might be fun.
I wouldn't say Gabriel is EVIL, just apathetic. If this movie has a theme even half as great as Gabriel Dropkick I'll watch it. ...otherwise, can't say I'm a big fan of Feig
Not Gabriel, Raphiel. You know, her friend with the smile that hides a devious, devious mind. Anyway, to circle back to the film, I actually read a bit about the book series on Wikipedia, and it sounds like the kind of thing where if it's done right, it could be good for people of all ages. But we'll see.
Really hate that every fantasy movie has that dimly-lit look to it. Feig movies typically look pretty decent.
sadly, this looks like we're gonna get another instance of a good director making their worst movie at netflix due to the studio not having anyone rein them in like a normal studio might've. that's how we got the apatow shitshow earlier this year
