I was reading the thread on The Beatles and was surprised to see no thread on The Rolling Stones. Anyone here a fan? What is your favorite album by them?

I enjoy the Stones much more than The Beatles for what it's worth. Some Girls is probably my favorite, but there's a lot of runners up.

Not to make this a Beatles vs Stones thread but I for sure prefer The Beatles. More great records. And they have the better songs. However. Love the Stones.

Tier 1: Exile On Main Street, Beggars Banquet, Sticky Fingers, and Let It Bleed

Tier 2: Some Girls, Aftermath, Between the Buttons

Found Steal Wheels used for 3.99 and boy was that a good impulse buy. The cleaned up production really sounds great on them and there are some really staple songs.

80's Stones are not my favorite Stones, but I always enjoy listening to those albums.

Side B of Tattoo You is their 80s (and tbh final) peak for me

Just excellent song after excellent song

I feel that way about Sticky Fingers. I really listened closely to Taylor's parts on "Sway" the other night and damn that just took me away.

Yeah I do love Brian and Ronnie, but Mick gave them a true magic they never quite replicated before or after. He and Keith just had it.

Well, with one exception, Keith's interplay with himself on "Gimme Shelter"

I haven't but I saw a lot of chatter on twitter about how overlooked/underappreciated it is when it had an anniversary recently so I'm planning on giving it a listen soon.

I also want to get to some of the Bluesbreakers stuff he was on.

I really believe Their Satanic Majesty's Request is majorly underrated. I know the psychedelic hippie thing was a weird fit for them, but I also think they were very good at it.

  23. As much as I love the Stones, I barely listen to their albums.

"She's a Rainbow" is on a very short list of their most impressive singles.
