No love for Birdless Cage or the closer? Canyon & Yume to me compliment each other so well. Perfect opener/closer imo.
This album is a masterpiece to me. I dont often throw around that term but its that good well to me at least and im sure others here feel the same way. Just gets better and better everytime.
How would they blow up tho, I guess you could push colored out to alternative radio. There really arnt big labels looking for stuff like this right now.
I honestly only like this album by them but I would call myself a massive, massive fan of this band because the album is just that good. I'm gonna revisit their other stuff this week and see if it hits home outside of just Oarsman, which is still massively important to me as a song
hi so I checked this out cause I saw all the talk and I never listened to this band before today...but wowwww this is stunning and fantastic and I now have every earlier album and side project lined up in my library lol thank you thread for the suggestions and hype
What do you mean how would they blow up, bands don't need radio anymore to get attention lol. I don't think anyone has any illusions this band is gonna be like playing arenas but like comparatively no reason they shouldn't have as much hype behind them as bands like hotelier and foxing and pianos etc. and while those bands aren't HUGE there's a difference between them and TROW. When people say blow up for a band like this that's all they mean
Exactly! I think they need to open up for one of those bands like that. How can we make that happen? Would love to see them tour one day.
Bask & Sundials deserve more love in here, . I checked out Grandfather by Tigers on Trains after reading some comments of praise, and am really enjoying that as well.
Just asked Riley from Thrice if he has heard it yet and TROW just liked my comment. Hopefully it helps put them on his radar if he had not heard it yet.
All those bands you mentioned tour like crazy and have paid their dues playing on the road 200 days a year sometimes for very small crowds (especially hotelier 2014-2016). From their interviews they are looking for a big tour right off the bat that will allow them to live off of making music, without some sort of big publicity push (big label backing, management , ect) I think it could be pretty difficult. Tigers jaw and foxing got that Manchester tour last year by working their asses off and touring for years (also tigers jaw being backed by a major label). I hope they get picked up by a decent sized label, that could be really big for them and give them the backing to get on the type of tour I think they are looking for. For the record I would love for it to happen, I’ll be in their corner the whole way. This record is amazing and I hope as many people hear it as possible. Edit: I also had a slightly different definition of blow up than you did. I think what I’m trying to say is they may have be willing to grind it out on the road for a while which I may not know is a possibility for them with jobs and families. Okay this post is too long and I’m sick and just got back from Hockey so my mind is a little fuzzy.
So excited for the album release show on Saturday. I need to figure out if I should take the train or drive into NY
Listening thru the Discog and side project. No matter is really different but I like it as a poppier record. Don’t really like the “new” tracks on empty vessels. Felt the same about house of dust. Varuna and his old branches really have some stunners. Cartographer is just Ok.
I listened through with headphones this morning trying to really hear the words and yeah, every minute of this is amazing and it just keeps getting better on repetitive listens. I’m in love. Current favs are probably Ore, Colored Out, Birdless Cage. (and the way he sings the word “sacrifice” on The Canyon)
Added a second to your Instagram comment. I love reading Riley’s music recommendations through his excercise routine.
Yeah I just saw that. Replied to yours and added @teebs41 into the mix because I know he feels the same way about it. I just texted my gf with a screenshot and said ''imagine if we helped them go on tour with Thrice!'' Well ya just never know. I'm glad we're at least trying to make it happen. TROW liked my comment last night so I'm sure they are appreciating this.
