Time to see what the hype is about. First song is fine. Style isn't really my bag and I don't like the lyrics. Trusting y'all that it gets better
On track 4. Each song is a bit better than the last but overall I'm not digging this too much. Nothing really interesting or unique about the vocals/music to keep me attentive. I will say that I do enjoy Birdless Cage, so hopefully they just keep getting better.
Yeah I can see this not being your thing if you don't like the opener or its lyrics. I think "The Canyon"s lyrics are brilliant
Eh, they aren't necessarily bad but they aren't doing much for me. I enjoy when the dude changes his voice up a bit. When it becomes too Lacey I zone out. The actual music is probably the most lackluster part for me, although they do throw interesting things in every now and then.
I think he was while he was in the band. Last I remember hearing, prior to No MaterHow Narrow, he signed to do a record with MTV Records (which I had never heard of before). It was posted on American Gospel’s twitter or Facebook or something. I’ve never seen any sign of it though (demos/recording/chatter). Then he kinda was less visible in TRoW (wasn’t in Spare Key video) and less prominante on the NMHN record.
Was it to do a record? I know both American Gospel and TROW signed publishing deals (or something similar) with MTV that would allow for their music to be used on their shows. I remember when they would post that their music was going to be on Teen Mom haha. American Gospel got this Will Forte trailer (unrelated to MTV), which was pretty cool.
Maybe that what the deal was for then. I remember reading it like new record. I was wondering if Gregg was gonna leave and go solo. You could be right though
The Canyon, Dialogues and Colored Out are my favorites by far. Waiting for the rest to hit me as hard as those tracks
I've been dealing with some really intense feelings of isolation and alienation lately and this record really hits home sometimes
you just needed to be a tributary didn’t matter which river you served if we’re all meant to be temporary does it matter which lessons we learn?
Thread catch up... Very very strange / happy / exciting to see so much love for the band / their work and for Grandfather (ToT). That album has always felt deeply personal and special for me since it seemed like NO ONE ever heard or them or the record. And now people are experience it and loving it and that's fucking awesome. These guys deserve all the accolades for all their great work. Glad so many others are enjoying it as well. (Although a small part of me wants to "get off my lawn" about it)
They got back to me on fb no concrete tour plans as of now. Hopefully this album gets them more attention and they can tour on it. I'm honestly so impressed witt this record. I've always been a casual fan of this band now I would say I'm def more than that. So excited to see where they go from here.
