I’d kill for another album from them

 

After the listening to the album three times I prefer the songs with straight clean singing.

 

Like @Colin Your Enthusiasm i overplayed Northern Orthodox and yet it still absolutely crushes. That riff and those tones are just massive

I thought I’d miss Gregg on this record... and as much as i love his vocals, this band still sounds incredible without him. Mason has continued to get better and better

 

Mason has never sounded better than this imo. The whole band just oozes with confidence on this record.

 

MIght be an unpopular opinion, but I never cared too much for Gregg's vocals in the context of TROW. It was a nice change of pace every once in awhile, but I could never get past the fake accent thing that he does. I still enjoy American Gospel, and it's a bummer he's not in the band anymore, but I like that this album has allowed Mason full control. I think he's a stronger vocalist and songwriter.

 

I'm so excited about rediscovering their back catalog now. Like super stoked about it.

 

If they do announce shows hoping there's a date or two near me. I would totally try and go.

 

Yeah I’ve only ever really liked greggs voice as a complement to masons in doses, like oarsman or grounded. I’ve always preferred masons

 

enjoy the slow 5/4 at the end of ORE. so cool

 

I certainly see this being among my AOTY contenders. It will def be in the mix. I feel comfortable saying that by now.

Four songs in and Birdless Cage is just... woahhhh. Enjoying the hell out of this so far, this is my first proper listen to this band and I am enjoying it a lot. Hearing some Felix Culpa/Dear Hunter/Hidden Hospitals vibes thus far. Manchester Orchestra and... ugh, Brand New I suppose, in there as well. We'll be fiiiiine if we never wake up from this...

I smile whenever that chorus hits.. the modulation to major is just set up so nicely.
