like, that should be a massive explosion but it pulls back and fuzzes out and it lost most of its impact there
I've listened loosely to TROW over the past decade, and I have to say this is impressing me so far. Hadn't had any time to sit down with it until this morning. Big thanks to @teebs41 (and @Colin Your Enthusiasm) for making sure I didn't miss it.
I went through and bought what vinyl I could on their webstore, but Cartographer and Varuna are sold out. I can't find them on eBay and only varuna for $45, so uh...if anyone has copies they wanna sale lemme know
this is good, i wish it was darker though, feels like the latest all get out record without being so southern. this style of music i generally prefer to be pushing the darkness and intensity, i feel this record is a little too comfortable solid though
I honestly think that among everything else already mentioned as being their best yet on this record, the lyrics have not been mentioned enough. They are really strong on here. Their best work lyrically hands down imo. Connecting with so much of them.
Personally I like that its not too dark. I still think the extended version adds a lot to the proceedings. But I've been finding myself listening to the standard version lately. After not listening to it at all at the beginning I've now played the standard version 3 times in a row.
i'm also comparing it to animal flag since they're the closest things sonically i've heard recently, but i like the animal flag record much more than this. that's the sonic tone i prefer
They definitely work well together sonically and lyrically. I guess this isn’t quite as dark as that but I think it fits this album. I wouldn’t say either one is much better tho personally
i mean i'm also far more invested in that band so that helps a bit too, but yeah, there's some cool stuff here definitely. i'd go back to it. it's just not generally what i listen to. this record being so long doesn't necessarily help it to me either. but i came into this with low expectations and definitely surpassed those
Sounds more like its a question of personal preference more than a question of quality on this record for you. The quality is most certainly there on this record.
lucky for me this and AF were some of my most anticipated records of the year so this is a very good time for me rn.
it's only 49 minutes? feels longer, haha. had to pause it because i'm at work which obviously extends it but i felt i was listening for much longer, especially looking at the track times too. makes sense though.
it's very obvious why people love this so much though, it's influenced so much by a ton of the bands people love here. like, even that little mewithoutyou part in northern orthodox, it's very apparent that this is a record this site was looking for
