yo am i the only one that thinks the 10 track album feels slightly stronger? I know @Colin Your Enthusiasm disagrees
I haven't even tried to listen to the 10 track and I don't know if I ever will. 2 of the B-sides I adore and I dunno if I could bring myself to change that up haha.
Born Blind and Amertasu are amazing I agree, and I like the first one too... but I just think those 10 songs are all like 10/10 tracks haha
All the songs work together. TROW is an album band and not a singles based band to me. That’s means songs an albums can run longer and develop, and don’t have to be so catchy and instant to work.
I just had my first listen to the 10-track version and it is quite strong in its own way, but so is the extended version. And 2 of those bonus tracks are among my favorites on the album.
Well all of you certainly have gotten me hyped up for this. I was big into His Old Branches, Varuna, and The Cartographer back in the day, think I listened to the album after that only a handful of times, could not get into it. Pretty excited for this though
I wasn't listening super close, but the transitions were definitely different and it still flowed really well.
Cool listening for the first time as a 10 track version on the site that posted the stream. Gotta get those numbers up!
Shrine is way too good. I couldn't have imagined a better record. Canyon, Worry If You Want, and Birdless Cage are tops right now but every song is amazing.
I mean it's insane I loooooved Northern Orthodox and still very much do but like there are so many standouts. This is what I was hoping for and I got it and more.
I’m back to being into the extended version more haha. The first bonus track has been growing on me, the lead guitar in the chorus is awesome
I’ve never listened to this band, but I just read a 5/5 review of the new album on Sputnik and now I’m really intrigued. Is the new album the best place to start? I won’t be able to listen until it’s officislly out because I’m on vacation and only have access to my iPhone.
Can't listen to this stream through the iPhone? THE REPUBLIC OF WOLVES Invite You to Visit Their ‘shrine’ [Exclusive Premiere] « Audio « PureGrainAudio.com As far as if it's the best place to start I would say it's the best of all their works and combines their sounds so well. The 1st EP is darker than this, the 1st LP is not as technically sound as this, the 2nd EP is almost a continuation of the first LP, and their 2nd LP is the lightest and most different of them all. I think you can start with this and comfortably go back to their older stuff, but if you want to see their evolution I would start from the beginning.
They really need to do a track by track of this and include the B-Sides. Looking at the booklet there's 3 songs in quotations, and the 3 B-Sides plus the word Yume are in parentheses, gotta have some meaning right? Maybe those are all connected in some way? I probably sound like a crazy conspiracy theorist haha
