howd we get to the 80s from the replacements? 80s would be: Just Like HEaven Lips like Sugar Girlfriend in a Coma Jane Says or Blister in the Sun
Don't Tell a Soul probably got me to go back to Pleased to Meet Me and Tim - but I knew of them prior. Its been a while since I listened to them. Have to go back to listen to all of them.
A new mix definitely sounds promising! Even with the original mix being a little lacklustre it's still their best album in my view.
There being like 700 versions of Can’t Hardly Wait and them all being just pretty good until they finally landed on the album version and it being legitimately arguably the best song of all time gotta be among most inspiring things in songwriting ever
Skipping around right now, I don’t know if I like these better, but it’s kind of unbelievable to hear these songs sound like this
Definitely on my Mt Rushmore of albums I've wanted to hear with better mixing. Can't wait to have a listen. Even with the original mix it's the best album in my opinion. Never really understood why Let It Be was considered better.
Yeah it’s absolutely crazy how many little flourishes were completely flattened in the mix. I think the only one that doesn’t quite work for me is Swinging Party, but only because it lacks the haunting quality of the original. Hold My Life and Left of the Dial sound like entirely new songs. It’s amazing how much life they have!
Kinda in awe listening to this lol I get why it might be impossible to adjust to for certain fans but I'm grinning ear to ear listening to this. It sounds so good
I just love the old grittiness of the older albums.... I love the songs, and the remixes, and the memories flow back to me.
I don't disagree Swinging Party is missing the haunt factor, but that's also the one where I'm most blown away to hear like this. The bass and lead guitar stuff is just wow when you hear it pop like it does in this mix
True, the bass guitar in the chorus is playing actual notes instead of just a rhythmic pattern and it is mind-blowing
it's also funny that like, this album of all albums is now going to be among my 'what do i want drums to sound like' references. wrapping up my full first listen now, if I have any complaints I think there's a couple spots where the new mix loses a little of the punch of the original (Left of the Dial is the clearest example I think), but overall this is otherwise brilliant in every sense of the word. as I'm typing this, holy fuckk the piano in HCAR
The new drums on Waitress in the Sky are nuts. Sounds like actual drums now instead of someone banging on a cardboard box
