Anyone involved in the discourse would be better off watching Finding Frances than The Rehearsal if they're trying to get a feel for Nathan's intentions (beyond comedy) tbh. Just rewatched that one and phew. Very funny, but so shockingly heartfelt. Not only does he set up a successful rehearsal for Bill (which had to influence this show), but I think Maci calling him "mean funny" (and his subsequent reaction) absolutely and clearly informs this show. Really special stuff.
I'm an apologist for every and any thing pertaining to Nathan but I thought the ass wiping thing was kinda messed up.
I loved the first episode, but I kind of worried if it would fall into a formula that would get old... damn these last two episodes alleviated any of those concerns.
Really want to know what the Dragonball Z line was all about lol, it’s so absurd that it almost sounds like a euphemism Also a friend just texted me and goes “omg Nathan made Patrick a literal gold digger” and I’m dying that didn’t even cross my mind
Ohh. He was talking about his grandpa. For some reason I thought he was referring to the actor. That makes way more sense lmao
All these long-forgotten Oregon archetypes came back to me in crystal clarity after watching episode 2 "Bless this production, Father" lady, stoned truth-in-numbers guy who only ever lies to you, sasquatch conspiracy guy just trying to make ends meet
Finally got around to episode 3, I'm glad he's not totally abandoning the premise, it's actually really interesting that he's going to have the main rehearsal running concurrently with the different episodes. I can't wait to see what insane heights it will reach As for the one this week, the stuff with the grandpa was great and the scene with Patrick breaking down to the actor and then ghosting the show was oddly emotional. This show definitely isn't as laugh out loud funny as NFY but it's not meant to be, I can't take my eyes off it the whole time
Omg. If the rumors are true and Max dies and all scripted content gets cancelled, is The Rehearsal dead?!? Please tell me it’s an HBO show and not an HBO Max?
Anyways this show is incredible. The line from the so called “night owl” about there being Sasquatch’s sent me
Actually going through NFY right now and the episode where he gets that bodybuilder to act as the spokesperson for a workout involving moving furniture when it's actually just people moving for free, holy shit
