I have this dirtbag crust punk guy who I was friends with in my teens and early 20's who at one point got a felony warrant for check fraud (there was also some crazy shit involving his dad around the same time I won't get into) and escaped to Portland to avoid state charges and kept a crazy low profile since. This was around 2010/2011 or so. Ever since people in my dirtbag punk friend group from high school have always wondered wtf happened to him. I got into the rabbithole today of figuring out what happened to him. Most solid thing i found is apparently he got named as a federal witness in an affidavit against an intrastate darkweb fent distributor in like 2017 where he snitched on the plug to the feds.
What are some of your favorite albums released this year? I feel like I’ve been slacking on new releases the past couple years
Magdalena Bay, Chat Pile, Charlie xcx, Xiu Xiu, couple Future mixtapes, Kim Gordon, Jamie xx, Kelly Lee Owens, Denzel Curry
Oh man I still need to check out that Kim Gordon album. I saw her at Ohana Fest this year and she was great
Feeling kind of conflicted over a recent purchase… I went to a Tilly’s warehouse sale yesterday. Basically it was a bunch of overstock and other things that were mega discounted, but of course, no returns or exchanges. I saw this hat (pictured below) and decided to get it. I liked how it looked. Thought the design was cool and liked the vintage-style look of it. I didn’t look much into the brand. Last night I did some research and it’s from a skate brand. I feel conflicted because I am not a skater. I love skate culture (the fashion, music etc) I myself do not skate. So I’m afraid that if I wear it, I’m gonna be a poser. Not sure if I should resell the hat on Depop, or just keep it.
Just keep it. What is someone gonna do? be like quick, name your 3 favorite skateboards??? Oh so you can't, huh? Figures
Yeah wear it. I used to (attempt to) skate but don’t anymore but still buy stuff from some skate brands from time to time. Especially sci-fi fantasy.
That’s reassuring. I really dig Sci-Fi’s stuff and have been wanting to get some. Only reason why I haven’t is for the aforementioned reason. I also tried skating at one point too but never got the hang of it. Kinda bummed me out…
A drunk girl at the bar told me I look like handsome Shrek after he becomes human and that might have been the sweetest most flattering thing a random drunk person has ever told me.
I briefly chatted with someone today who asked if I’m from the US and when I told them yes they said, “I wouldn’t have guessed because of your accent.” I’m kicking myself a bit for not asking where they thought I was from bc I’m so curious now
I can't believe I said Weezer didn't belong at When we were young fest because they weren't part of the scene. Like they didn't write "Pinkerton"
I have seen a lot of my favorite bands multiple times so my bucket list of bands to see live is pretty short, but today it hit me how fun it would be to try and see my faves in their home town/state. Just for the immaculate energy and vibe I feel like that would provide plus encouragement to travel more
I’ve thought about doing this too… That would be such a blast. I’d also love to travel to see bands I love at like, historical venues. One of my bucket list trips is to see a show at Red Rocks
Forever fascinated how we’ve survived this long as a species when a high number of people have their brains turn to soup when they’re at a red light with a green turn arrow and the person going straight thinks this means it’s their turn to drive.
Why isn't the year's Q4 Oct - December collectively referred to as "the holiday season" instead of just Black Friday to NYE? Basically the last 3 months of the year are holiday shit back to back to back, but only the month and one week Christmas Phase of that period is considered "the holiday season"
If you called the whole quarter holiday season people would then need another term if they wanted to specifically refer to Christmas & new year phase of that quarter. Which wouldn't be any better or worse if it has always been that way but if you change it now anytime someone referred to the holiday season you would have to clarify what they meant. It also wouldn't make sense outside the US since Thanks Giving and Veterans Day only happen there and the holiday season and q4 are common terms for all English speaking/christendom countries
