my Amazon package has been in a state of “preparing for shipment” for like five days now I’ll get it anywhere from this Wednesday to next Tuesday oh what fun
What do people do for fun that doesn't involve eating or spending money? It's too sunny to go on a hike. I'm so bored. But I'm trying to make better food choices and I've been spending a lot of money. Smh.
I ended up just falling asleep. In my living room with no AC under a weighted blanket. So I woke up soaking in sweat. Cool lol. I need a hobby.
In the next decade I think we are going to see a trend of "nostalgia malls", where some abandoned malls get restored with 80's and 90's decor/merchandise/fashion and get turned into niche attractions for millennials and gen x. Like those 50's diners for Boomers that were big in 80's/90's.
Speaking of mall nostalgia I like the album Floral Shoppe from Macintosh Plus and it's a shame so much vaporwave is bad and so many artists took the wrong things from that album
Speaking of physical manifestations of adolescent nostalgia as a business concept. I remembered that adult summer camps were a thing for a minute in the early/mid 2010's and they looked they were an absolute nightmare to go to.
The malls that are still around and haven't died are not really the same anymore. Mallrat culture is dead. Zoomer teens don't hang out and randomly cruise the mall like our generation and Gen X'ers did so they don't really survive off teenagers window shopping anymore, so they are experimenting with different approaches mainly targeting adults and families instead of teens. For example my hometown mall survived by shifting to being a date night spot with a new movie theatre, Red Robin, PF Changs, Cheesecake factory, ect. They also put in a Whole Foods where the old Sears was which I thought was a kind of weird for a mall.
A mall by me used to be packed and a hangout spot. It’s dead now and closing soon. I have good memories there.
there are/were 8 malls around Pittsburgh. 2 completely closed, 3 are half empty and the other 3 are thriving. It's weird.
