I haven't sorted through it yet, but 2016 was a fantastic year for punk releases. The Bouncing Souls, Descendents, Beach Slang, PUP, Culture Abuse, Jeff Rosenstock Direct Hit!, Pears, and the Dirty Nil are all obvious picks. And that Post War Psalms Morning Glory EP was amazing. But here's some less-than-obvious ones that might be worth your time if you missed them: Caskitt - Old Fires New Frontier (FFO: Propagandhi, Marathon, Ignite) Almost People - Songs For Best Friends (FFO: mid-tempo No Use For A Name, Broadway Calls, Bayside) The Bennies - Wisdom Machine (FFO: Reel Big Fish, Mustard Plug, the Interrupters) Hospital Job - Never Get Cold (FFO: The Copyrights, Teenage Bottlerocket, the Dopamines) The Lippies - The Lippies (FFO: Tilt, the Bouncing Souls, Bad Cop/Bad Cop) Murderland - Splitsville (FFO: ALL, Masked Intruder, Enemy You) Loner Chic - Year of the Goth (FFO: Modern Baseball, Fake Problems, the Menzingers) The Windermere's - Continental Divide (FFO: MxPx, Don't Look Down, early Fall Out Boy) Some "not quite punk, but pretty close" releases came from Camp Cope, Bleached, and Microwave too. Still need to listen to: The Moms, Muncie Girls, Murderburgers, Plow United, Prince Daddy & The Hyena, Radkey, Shallow Cuts, that Sneeze EP, Spanish Love Songs, the Superweaks, Thin Lips, and Useless ID. Clearly I still have some catching up to do...
bye Ian Glad to have on less abuser in the scene. Hope he is actually genuine about getting better and starting rectify some of his wrongs
Typical, shitty statement that comes after being called out for being a rapist. It sucks to know I supported this band.
I still need to check that out, was pretty gutted I missed their album release show (was a great lineup too) Loved all their other stuff so expecting it to be great.
Totally random, but watching the 60 Minutes segment on Bruno Mars right now and one of the producers/engineers at his studio is wearing a Propagandhi shirt. Hell yeah.
Nice man, wasn't expecting to see these guys on here. They're real local to me and I've liked them for quite some time now. They're real great live and proper nice dudes too, bumped into Alex at Creeper on Friday and had a quick chat. Really looking forward to the new material next month.
Both of the new Dopamines songs are really really good. They have kind of a Swellers vibe to them. Expect the Worst is a perfect record but Vices kinda sucked so I'm very happy about this
I'm digging these songs. I'll check out their other stuff. Reminded me of a hybrid between The Swellers and Anti-Flag haha
Starting to realize this site hasn't been overly active while I was away on my crazy adventure, haha. I did finally listen to the new Flatliners and dig it. Hang My Head is a jam. I had no idea the Dopamines released new stuff and will listen ASAP.
I'd love to see them live, for some reason they passed me by for ages and I only got into them last year. I have seen Latterman live before though and that was an unreal show.
Speaking of Australia, I recently got back from living there for 6 months and this band was my favourite musical discovery. So crazy good!
Cool haha. What do you think? And do you mind if I ask where you're from? I spent my 6 months living and working in Brisbane. This band is actually from Melbourne. Spent my Christmas holidays down there.
