the bet thing is probably the low point of the season but was like three episodes and maybe 10 minutes total of screentime tops, mountain out of a molehill

Some of the non-main character acting has been spotty (including jokes that don’t land) and I do agree that whoever plays Jake is a bad actor

    but Dana? No!

The show has like 200 small roles. Don’t really care if those aren’t the best actors.

  5. I loved the bet taking lol, that was a fun way to string together a few episodes and was a nice break from other things that were going on at the time

They stick out like a sore thumb to me. Brings me out of the realism.

  7. The only part of the "acting" (using quotes because this isn't really an acting criticism) I don't love is the stuff that is clearly meant to drive dialogue to explain to the viewer in layman's terms what is happening. Like every episode there's some version of "ummm english please". That said, it's sort of necessary and easy to overlook

i don't mind that stuff so much as the "nurses are being assaulted all across the country!" like a few of those lines feel like the writers weighing on the scale a bit too much to read us NPR headlines that the actual characters themselves wouldn't say in those moments lol

  9. Yes agreed, Langdon's mask thing is another imo. They may be things the characters believe, but it's really the writer's room doing the speaking there

As far as the preachy stuff goes remember that this show is showran by John Wells also ran The West Wing after Sorkin left. It's kinda his thing.

ER (also John Wells) would also get kinda preachy and have it after school special moments too. It's fine.

If we are fretting about minor characters being bad actors and wondering if that makes a show bad or hurts realism or not, I would like to remind people that The Wire had some of the worst line reads from small side characters I have ever heard in my life and it didn't change how I felt about that show at all. After awhile it actually kinda became a part of the charm of the show in a strange way.

It felt authentic because they were just real people.

Wyle let loose some spoilery stuff about the topics season 2 will cover in this interview by speaking about the types of professionals they're talking to for prep

1)they're talking people who work with doctors with drug addiction in dealing with recovery
    2) they're talking to experts in human trafficking
    3) they're talking to immigration law experts about ICE and how hospital ERs are no longer a safe haven for migrants anymore

That third one is gonna be REAL interesting to see how they cover
