I think two things can be true: 1) The coked up guy absolutely should face accountability for his actions. Being impaired is not an excuse. You chose to get impaired. Doesn't matter if you weren't properly educated on the dangers of mixing coke and alcohol. You're still ultimately responsibility for your actions. 2) Accountability for criminal actions should still ultimately be restorative and not punitive. I don't think you should ever completely write anyone off for one thing they did. The guy needs to be given a chance to atone for his mistakes, sure that might include jail time. But even criminals still deserve some basic levels of rights and treatment and compassion from everyone, especially health care workers assigned to treat them Really the whole Robby/Dana dynamic I think did a great job capturing the situation. Objectively, Robby is technically right. Dana put her own career at risk. Her actions likely went above what was actually needed to protect the hospital staff and could open herself to legal trouble On the other hand, no one can actually blame Dana for what she did. Robby 100% would've done something similar in Dana's position. Robby is also just rather egotistical and a control freak -- just see how much he does not like sharing responsibility with Al-Hashimi. His ultimate problem isn't actually what Dana did, is that she did it without talking to him.
I don't think Robby's issue is that she did it without talking to him. I think he can clearly see that Dana is breaking and is pushing it way too far, and is deeply concerned for both her mental health and career. It's not like Dana had any actual defense of it beyond flagrantly lying about what she did. Robby's issue is just his complete refusal to reflect how he himself is also breaking just as badly if not worse, and how that affects all the people around/under him.
The scene with McKay and that drunk golf douche I believe was meant to show the audience that she does not believe addiction or recovery absolves you of all accountability.
I’m worried about how they pay off her pocketing a scalpel from the suture cart (I think that’s what that was). I’m not sure if she’s using that on herself or someone else at this point and both seem entirely possible.
Ohhh - I need to go back and catch that, I must have missed it. I imagine with Hashimi breathing down her neck about charts, the Langdon drama, and the general stress of being in the craziest ER in PA…she’s probably not doing well.
I forget which episode, if you look for my posts in this thread, you’ll see me mention it in a spoiler tag the night or day after it aired. It was the one where they showed her and Javadi(I think) in the bathroom. They talked and then Santos stands up and you can see them on her left thigh. Quick shot, but very intentional framing.
He made Langdon leave for the short term (assassinated Bin Ladin) but still allowed him a path back in (promoted radical jihadist Islam while in office)
We watched it somewhat recently and enjoyed it but there’s less medical stuff than you’d probably think
