Yeah Santos I forgot was the one who helped catch Langdon so her reaction makes more sense Mel what did she even do with Langdon S1?
Legit might have been the best episode of the season. Emotional roller coaster (or should I say waterslide...) for sure Wild we only have five episodes left. Shift ends in two hours...
Another great episode for Dana lines (esp "Throw me in jail, I could use a vacation" and "Maybe Gen Z should work for the FBI"). Obv Santos' and Robby's professionalism has been over the line but I liked getting to see the parallels and contrasts in how they respond when called on it. Also shout-out to the show for not infantilising Becca and highlighting that Mel has been viewing her sister that way
There was a decapitation in a real-life water slide accident in Kansas about ten years ago so when they said in the show a kid from the waterpark had major neck trauma I tensed up so much
ugh that was such an awful story. i can't even imagine. ended up being a ton of negligence by the park and the owner. that ride should not have existed.
Fuck Robby for giving Mohan such a hard time about the panic attack when he went through the same thing s1
Half of Mel’s scenes s1 were with Langdon. I agree with the premise of “they worked one day with this guy” but acting like they weren’t directly paired together a lot is silly
My issue with santos is she didn’t seem to actually care about landgon’s drug abuse/drug theft and just wanted to pull a gotcha on him because he was a dick to her at the beginning of last season. Obviously Langdon was in the wrong and needed help but now she wants a parade about it because she thinks she “won” and doesn’t understand why people still like Langdon.
I think that component is there, but she also just has an extremely black/white view of morality and thinks that if someone has done something wrong then they are complete scum. She’s had this view towards multiple patients without even *knowing* whether they did anything wrong. Also she isn’t even wrong that Langdon should have been fired for what he did. He got away with it solely because Robby decided to not report it. But she’s not exactly more morally superior to him herself
Even that, his impact on her was massive. Especially if you consider someone who is in a new city, main caregiver for her sister, her circle is likely small. His impact on her was big.
I’m just as guilty of being annoyed about the time thing as anyone else, but we really do just have to suspend disbelief about it. Yeah it was technically one day in-universe but obviously the show treats the relationships between the characters as if they’re developing over a longer period of time as if it was a typical show
I try to keep in mind that for Javadi/ King/ Santos/ Whitaker, last season was their very first day at the Pitt and it coincided with a mass shooting, so it makes sense that any interactions they had that day would have a heightened impact
That’s where I come down on it also, rewatching the first season while my wife watched for the first time, I’d forgotten how hard Langdon absolutely lays into Santos in front of Mohan and some others when she takes the blame for a Mohan fuck up, all as he’s trying to convince her coworkers she’s trouble while she’s the only one realizing he’s stealing meds from patients. Similar to Mel’s one day working with Langdon coloring her very positive impression of him, I could see why it would suck for Santos to have to take orders from him the very next time she sees him, especially given he’s sought to make amends with everyone else other than her. That said, she’s insufferable and has very little understanding of how addiction can manifest in otherwise genuinely good people, and she’s had 8 months to come to terms with it, so get it together and be a professional. Patrick Ball’s puppy dog face also very effective at getting you to take his side lol
Man Robby was a gigantic dick to Mohan this episode huh She kinda mirrored what he went through last season, and he projected all his shit onto her.
I think Al-Hashimi will make him leave early because he's being a dickhead, then he'll wreck his bike and return as a patient for the final few hours of the season.
when Robby told that patient Whitaker was one of the best and brightest then Whitaker looked so happy, loved that scene
The “show twist expectations” make me want to think that Whitaker is going to accidentally kill him and Robbie is going to lose his shit
