The fact that Max always ends this with showing me ER as a “you may also like” is funnier this week due to the lawsuit.
You know, as much as Santos has been an asshole, Langdon goes from seemingly good guy to mega douche so fast.
I love the contrast of how shitty Langdon is towards Santos one second to how sweet he is his towards Mel the next.
I am glad they touch on this. I follow some medical influencers and they often talk about how healthcare worker abuse is a big deal and has risen since Covid.
it was definitely Dr. McKay who called the cops about incel kid. She felt powerful in the human trafficking situation so she found an opportunity to do something about another situation
That speech Dr. Langdon gave the lady about the surgeons wearing masks was fantastic. Probably got the biggest laugh out of me. Unfortunately that lady’s portrayal was pretty spot on of a lot of people.
Just watched the latest episode, this show is so damn good!! I wonder when season 1 ends, what's the chance of getting some awards consideration?
I love this show because it harkens back to a time in the 90's before prestige tv when traditional tv genre dramas were at their peak quality just from nailing the basics. Like ER or NYPD Blue or Chicago Hope or Homicide or early Law & Order. They weren't afraid to push the boundaries or do very artistic stuff, but they remained grounded in the confines of their procedural genre. Post-prestige a lot medical/cop/lawyer shows while entertaining kind of fell into a more basic soapy rhythm. In the 90's before The Sopranos changed everything big TV dramas either fell into the ER archetype or the Twin Peaks archetype. Which is why it's wild watching this show at the same time as Severance.
I started a rewatch a couple years ago and early in season 1 there is a scene where there was an elderly man comforting his dying wife at the end of her life, and then the camera pans over slightly and focuses on a just married groom comforting his new bride who is sick from food poisoning on their wedding night in the background, and the camera just sits for a bit just showing the juxtaposition of the two couples. I cried. Just brilliant television.
I watched every season for the first time during quarantine and it's one of my top 5 shows of all time now.
