A few years ago I went through all of Heroes again for the "reboot"/"true ending" and season one is very good except for one episode that is a flash forward to the future and that episode is just horrible.

There's so many threads that are just completely abandoned. It's hilarious. There's also the webseries and a bunch of other stuff.

    The reboot was 90% bad.

  3. I always imagined a sitcom called The Couch where it takes place entirely in a living room where characters have conversations on a couch.

The interesting part is how the plot moves forward without ever leaving the couch.

Now that I’m typing this I think variations of this have been done though.

Couple ideas I have had for awhile:

    • A science fiction medical drama. That is like M*A*S*H in space. I have always pitched this as a Star Trek spinoff but it could work on it's own.. They can deal with like speculative medical ailments like nanobot viruses and stiff like that.
    • A post apocalyptic take on the fantasy genre about a band of survivors that is similar to a D&D party, where you have an ex soldier (warrior), a scientist (mage), a religious nurse (cleric), a con artist (rogue), a music therapist (bard), a new age hippie (druid) ect.

I had an idea for an episodic anthology series where every episode is an adaption of a popular narrative song. The kicker is though that it doesn't tell you what song the episode is based on until it start playing on the end credits.

Like the pilot would be about a man in the 1970's taking out a newspaper classified looking to cheat on his wife, he finds out the woman he connected with through the ad is his wife, and then " if you like Pina Coladasssss" start playing as credits roll.

Prestige drama film about US vs. Microsoft with Paul Dano as Bill Gates and Tim Heidecker as Steve Ballmer. Paul Dano wins Oscar because they post the unedited full recreation of Bill Gates deposition

For a long time I have wanted a period espionage drama series about Union and Confederate agents in Europe during the Civil War.

The international aspect of the Civil War with Union agents hunting down Confederate secret service in the old World, the Brits secretly funding the building of Confederate ships, France taking advantage of the situation by invading Mexico, both sides trying recruit soldiers to their cause in Ireland, ect would make great TV.

    Karma Police.

Essentially a society world where when you do something "bad" you're destroyed from "something" in the sky. The movie opens with a group of men sexuallt assaulting a woman and getting away with it. A few moments late they're destroyed, semi horrifically by some sort of lazer from the sky (we can work out some sort of horrifying imagery of this). We fast forward to this society in full swing where we learn the government is doing this and has everyone on full watch (cliche some people like it because the bad stuff has stopped but also what you're being watched and there's no freedom yada yada)

The twist. The government isn't actually doing this and they don't really know where or why this is happening.

So it's Judge Dredd meets that Junji Ito story about the tree that crushes people.

People were drinking the sap because it's so delicious and addictive, but the tree could also sense people drinking it and next thing you know, a branch would come down from the sky and crush them.

So the story became about people trying to drink in secret or struggle to refrain from drinking.

I have an idea of how Paramount can revive The Twilight Zone. I think making yet another science fiction anthology series is lazy and shortsighted. Black Mirror owns that space now. Which is why the Jordan Peele revival failed.

My pitch: You have 156 classic science fiction stories you can expand upon, take influence from, and reimagine. You have decades worth of Twilight Zone Universe branded films, series, and limited series Paramount can do based on those original episodes. Instead of just being confined to being an anthology series, let the original series be your paintbrush for a whole expanded universe you can do.

In fact they should do a modern remake The Twilight Zone 4x18 "The Bard" which is a satirical parable about adapting someone else's work in a modern corporate ecosystem
