Haven't posted my pets in a while so here are the little goobers. Suki (blind ) Pepper (black cat) Bojack (dog)
Sight impaired since birth, and fully blind since like 4 or 5 months, and i think shes 2 now. We fostered her while she was waiting on eye surgery then kept her. Shes a champ and as long as things stay consistent, she's great at getting around. She climbs up into the cat tree, navigates her way down from heights like the counter etc. If spooked, she'll dart and bonk into stuff, but then she resets and is fine again. She loves to pounce on the dog and cries when he leaves on a walk. Most guests dont know shes blind till shes up in their face as she just glides around the apt like any other cat. In the future tho, id be worried in a bigger place, with stairs etc. Only 'annoying' things are she has to eat in a crate as shes ravenous and bothers the other cat (eats so fast), and shes expensive as the eye issues caused nasal and breathing issues. Shes on ashtma medication (daily inhaler) and shes had a few infections that needed antibiotics and flushing out. Shes cute tho and worth it.
I had no idea they made an inhaler for cats. That’s kind of adorable lol. How the hell do you make a cat “take” an inhaler??
Its just a big tube thing that you puff the inhaler into, then you hold it over their mouth and count to 10 while they breath it in. Some cats im sure wouldnt put up with it, but she just goes still and chills and breathes it in. She doesnt seem phased. Its human meds and like $80-100 / month - but she wheezes / sneezes when off it.
Happy belated, Stevie! I have not been able to stop thinking about mice lately. I’m very tempted to ask the landlord if she’s okay if I get one (or maybe even a few). I need something furry in my life.
For the love of god stop buying Frenchies. They're being overbred to the point where I think it should be considered animal abuse. Look at this fucking thing.
My dog is 15 and has recently started a steep decline. She pees on the floor almost every night, hacks up her lungs daily, never wants to be around (goes in other room when i watch tv), has trouble on walks, and overall just seems off As a dog owner, how do you know its time to put them down? Havent been through this before and im not sure how to handle this
I don't have an answer for you, but I empathize. Our rabbit started having trouble getting around last weekend and it's definitely the beginning of the end. He's 13. Fortunately, they sent us home with some gabapentin, so we have some time left to spend with him and can make him as comfortable as possible. Still incredibly difficult.
my pup is also 15 and is super struggling lately. nightly accidents, blind in one eye, completely deaf. i'm not ready to say goodbye to her.
