I both absolutely hate and absolutely love this story. I cannot stress this enough but FUCK those people who threw a dog away. Fucking monsters.
One of my first cats was named Maggie. We adopted her with her sister Rose. Two Maine Coon mixes. Maggie was the sweetest thing, I was her favorite in a family of 5 and she slept on me every night. Miss her .
We never made a move on this but a couple weeks ago my girlfriend met someone at work who had a bunny and she mentioned that we’ve been thinking of getting one. Fast forward another week, and this person texts my girlfriend saying she just started rehabilitating an abandoned bunny that will need a home once it’s in better health (sounds like he’s doing great, just still a bit underweight). So we emailed our landlord last night asking for permission since pets aren’t allowed and this morning he gave us the go-head (and encouraged us to name it after him lmao)!!!! so uh I guess at some point in the next few weeks we are going to bun parents! I’m not gonna post a photo of the one we’re getting until he’s ours just in case it falls through, but prepare yourselves because he’s three pounds and adorable. Can’t even express my excitement. I’ve personally been really pining for another mouse ever since Marvin passed, but now that a bunny is happening, I know it’s going to be absolutely amazing to have a larger creature tromping around the house. @Aaron Mook probably gonna have some questions for ya!
We spent the day reorganizing and getting rid of things in order to convert a room into The Bunny Room. Now comes the fun part, which is ordering all of the things. We just ordered him a pen, a small cat tree, and this, which GLOWS IN THE DARK! https://a.co/d/fSO80WQ We also hung fancy warm string lights in his room. Dude’s gonna have a cooler space than we do. (We’re picking him up Saturday morning.)
Yep! The one we found is relatively low to the ground and is laid out in a way that apparently makes it easy for a bunny, lol.
We picked up our bunny today. What a beautiful, gentle, silly creature. He sat on my girlfriend’s lap the entire car ride home. Will post photos later! (And hopefully have a name to share as well.)
Meet Claude. (So named after the cat in Black Christmas.) Expect tons of photos in the following days.
Thank you! He’s been shy since we brought him home, but this morning when I woke up I walked over to his pen to say hello and he ran over to me and gave my hand a good sniff! And I just got a text from my girlfriend that he did the same for her and accepted pets. He was also playing with his toys for the first time since we brought him home on Saturday. He’s such a cool little guy so far. When we’re home, he’s entirely free roam, and it’s been fun to see him slowly explore the apartment. It’s been like two minutes of exploring an area, hopping back to his pen, and then sneaking out for more 10-15 minutes later. But since he already seems to be coming out of his shell, I’m excited to see what things are like today and tonight.
Sure enough, Claude went full goblin mode. He was just exploring and jumped into my girlfriend’s yarn basket and started going to town on it.
Andddd he just jumped onto his cat tree What a night. He’s suddenly running around everywhere and coming right up to us. It’s so great.
